Pregnant after IF

slightly larger gestational sac

we had our 3rd ultrasound today and all looked well! heartbeat was 177 and baby measuring about a day ahead. my gestational sac is a little large for my dates. i'm 8wk1d and the sac is measuring about 9wk3d. it's more of an oval shape then round, so maybe that's why. the nurse didn't even mention it when we talked, i just saw that she wrote a note about it on my sheet which i get a copy of. so i guess it's not a concern since everything else looks good. did anyone else encounter a slightly larger gestational sac for your dates when everything else looked fine? if so, did it eventually get back on track with sizing? just curious!

Happy Halloween!

Re: slightly larger gestational sac

  • Sorry I can't help because my RE didn't measure the sac. From previous posts, sac measuring is not routinely done b/c sac is not uniform. We've had previous posts re: small or large sacs - unable to link via my crummy phone.

Trust the heart beat and embryo length measurements.

  • On one of my scans the sac measured a week behind. Naturally, I panicked, and asked pretty much everyone in the building if it was a problem. They said no. That was about two months ago. I think there's just as much error with the sac measurements as there are with the embryo measurements, which is to say a LOT! Don't worry about it. Focus on the great fetal measurement and heart rate. Congrats!

  • I am pretty sure I measured ahead from the get go. I am not a doctor, but I don't think it is anything to worry about

  • This post is a little late, but @gldnbearz got me wondering about the previous threads on sac size.  I found a fairly recent one about a smaller sac, but I still think some of the replies could be useful to you.  Here's the link.

  • Thanks @AMShark‌! I had searched the boards but only found threads regarding smaller sac sizes too. However, reading the thread is helpful...the responses could be applicable to a larger sac as the concern as well, so thanks! Trying to adopt the thinking that I'm not going to worry unless the nurse/doctor is worried. I'm just tired of worrying..some positive thinking is in order :)
