Babies on the Brain

Hi there...

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself and tell everyone at little bit about me. DH and I have been together for 5 years and will celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary next week. We bought a house 2 years ago and have been renovating the past year. We have 3 fur babies, two dogs and a cat. DH and I are going to start trying after our cruise in January. I have been to a pre conception appt and everything checks out good. Got off BC, started taking vitamins, and charting. This will be our first child and we are super excited about this time in our lives. I have been lurking for a little while and you all seem like good (honest!) women and I am looking forward to chatting with y'all!

*On a side note, are any of you reading and good baby books right now. I have been looking on Amazon and alot have mixed reviews. Thanks.

Re: Hi there...

  • Hi and Welcome!

I think the challenge with baby books is that they all push their own philosophy, and you'll find when you're a parent that every family is different and every baby is different.  That said, the ones that were most helpful for me were "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and the books from the Baby Whisperer.  I also found Touchpoints to be an interesting guide to milestones and emotional development.

What works well for me, or other women on the board, or your friends, may not work best for you.  By all means, read up, but don't be afraid to choose your own path, so long as you're listening to your baby, your pediatrician, and most of all, yourself.
