39 weeks...still no baby

Going for my appt. tomorrow so we'll see if I've dilated at all. Right now still just "waiting" and going a little stir crazy! LOL

Did any of you feel like you "knew" when labor was imminent? I mean, I feel like each day I still feel good so I keep telling myself, no it's not going to be today or atleast a few more days. But I don't really have anything to go by. I mean, did labor literally just START one minute to the next, or did you have kind of a feeling the day before that it was coming? ?

  • Hey....I just wanted you to know that your not alone on the waiting game....I'm with you!

I'm sure it will be our time soon enough....

  • Well my situation was different. I started feeling constipation pains for a few days, by the time my doctor recommended I go to L&D to get checked out, I was actually contracting. So that's what the pain really was!  It was 6 days of contractions before I actually was in active labor. But some people never feel anything and then all of the sudden are in active labor. You never know!
  • Awww Stacey your little guy will come soon enough. I ended up being induced right after my 39 week appointment so who knows what your doc will say. I had contractions for a long time too but he didn't budge on his own until I had pitocin in my system. Best of luck!!!
  • For what it's worth....I went into my 39 week appt to discuss what we were going to do b/c I felt like Spencer was NEVER coming.  At my appt, I brought this up to the mid-wfe as she was examining me...she said I don't know what you are talking about...you're in active labor and having the baby today.  Apparently I was in active labor and didn't know.  That was at 930 AM, Spencer was born at 511 PM.  Good luck to you!

  • Ooh! So glad I decided to pop into day. Don't worry! You will be a momma soon. I am 38 weeks Wednesday and will happily wait until I am a full 40 for our little man to make his arrival. If I knew I was going to go a little early, I would happily pass those days along to you :) Glad to hear that you are still feeling good! Hard to believe we'll have babies here soon!
  • I remember those days all sooo well! I started waiting for something to happen at around 38 weeks. I remember waking up EVERY morning and saying: "maybe today!"

My day didn't happen until 40 weeks 5 days though. I started crying on my due date and cried every night until she came! LOL! I remember being so desperate and thinking it would never happen. Luckily, I had a fabulous pregnancy and felt great every day right up until Nadia came.

I started contractiond 40 days, 4 days around 7pm. Had a bloody should around 3am the next morning and the pain got worse. When to the hospital around 11am and Nadia was born 40 weeks, 6 days at 3am. It was different then anything I had ever felt before but I didn't know they were the real thing because "you don't know what you don't know... "

Anyhow- be patient! Your baby will be here before you know it! All pregnancies eventually come to an end!

  • I felt crappy and sluggish the day before my water broke with #1.  Hope it happens for you soon!
  • Thanks for all of your input. I will happily wait until 40 weeks (or beyond, if need be!) but I just hate the "not knowing" part of it! Like Mari said, I wake up every day thinking, "is it going to be today?" I just wish I had some kind of gut feeling to go by, like I would know by the way I am feeling that it is likely to be in the next day or two, or still a week (or more) away.?

I guess because I am such a structured and organized person normally, that it is killing me the whole not knowing when it's going to be! LOL
