Re: Happy Halloween & Weekend Plans!?

  • Tonight is still up in the air. We might go to a friend's house, put Ash in his costume and snap a few pics. Or we may just stay home. Either way, my child will be wearing his costume and pictures will be taken.

I hope to get up and run in the morning now that I'm feeling better. The temps have dropped a bit, so I hope it will be nice running weather. Then need to shop for ingredients for a couple dishes that I'm making for my friend's surprise party tomorrow night. We're getting a babysitter (Ash's old day care teacher) and get to have a date night. Yay!

Sunday will be our usual routine.

QOTW #1: Since becoming vegan, I don't eat a lot of candy, but my favorite as a kid was Snickers. I should have made this a best/worst question too. The worst - whatever crap it is that comes in the unmarked black and orange paper. What is that stuff anyway?

QOTW #2: I'm really not big fan of scary movies, but I really liked Scream back in the day. I think it came out my senior year in high school and was the first R rated movie I went to without a patent. Anyway, I like that it was scary (but not too scary) and campy. Worst - I thought The Blair Witch Project was ridiculous and not the slightest bit scary.

Looking forward to our Halloween PIP thread this weekend. Get your cameras ready, folks!!!

  • I am hoping to leave work early today (fingers crossed), to get home for some Halloween fun. We are just planning to stay home, since Will is still too young for Trick-or-Treat, really. But, like @ATXMommas, he will be in his costume (even if just briefly), and there will be pics. Tonight we are planning to also make these little owl masks that my wife bought as an arts & crafts activity for the three of us and take a few photos. We would also love to paint our pumpkins, but we will see what we have time for. I am just hoping to get home by mid-to-late afternoon and have a couple of hours to do some fun Halloween stuff before our usual night time routine. We shall see!

Tomorrow our plan is lunch out, groceries, then some cleaning and organizing at home.

Sunday we are meeting my in-laws at KOP (King of Prussia Mall) to do a little shopping for Will (my FIL has it in his head that he wants to buy "his little man" something)... then we are all going to lunch. We might also check out a huge new super Target down that way that just opened. Because that is fun for us. Don't judge. :)

QOTW1: I don't really eat candy often. With that said, I do enjoy a good Reese's Peanut Butter Cup a couple of times a year!

QOTW2: I also don't dig scary movies. Just not a fan. At all.

  • Today I'm taking Simone to my sisters work (same company as me, but different campus) for trick or treating, though obviously I get to keep the candy ;-). Seriously though, going to let her show off her niece and eat lunch with her team. Sadly, though I've never met most of them, they've been more excited about S than my (geographically scattered) team (of mostly dudes).

One of J's shops is in a super popular business district trick or treat zone, usually well over 1,000 kids in 3 hours! I might go help her as usual, but it'll depend on Simone and weather and how tired I am. Worst case I'll dress her up and take her along the block to our immediate neighbors and of course have the photo op.

Otherwise J works both weekend days...I'll be trip prepping! Also getting our baby announcements out (yay!) and doing some other chores. I need to exercise but have had a lazy couple weeks, so may do that!

QOTW: 100 Grand bars!! And I'm not a scary movie person either :(.

  • Tonight DW and I are joining my best friend, her husband and 1 yr old for his first trick or treating experience.  He is going to be dressed up as a little rocker complete with pleather vested onsie and mini guitar.  His parents are going to be his event staff, and we are going to be security to complete his entourage.  DW has drill this weekend, so that leaves me to venture off on my own.  Not quite sure what I am going to do aside from running errands, dog beach and laundry.

QOTW #1: favorite treat to find in your pumpkin?  I love roasting pumpkin seeds!  We love getting creative with different spices and roasting them makes the house smell amazing.

QOTW #2: best/worst scary movie?  I have a hard time with scary movies because I am such a wimp.  I literally get up walk to the kitchen where I peer around the corner watching through the reflection on a picture we have hanging across from the TV.  It cracks DW up!

  • We're still on baby watch! This weekend will be fun though, C is off of work!

We just moved in to our house in March, so I have no idea if we will have Trick or Treaters or not. Guess I better get some candy just in case.

We're going to stock up on some supplies for the house and go grocery shopping so that my Mom won't have to eat out every meal when she comes up next week. We're going to try our best to relax and enjoy our last weekend as a twosome...unless Callie decides to make a grand entrance!

QOTW: Take 5 bars all the way! Sweet and salty. Mhmmmm.

I don't do scary movies. Ever. At all. : )

  • We'll be at my parent's house tonight to do the trick or treat thing with our five year old niece... Aside from that we have zero plans this weekend!

QOTW: kits kats! And no scary movie is the best for me.... I've seen many but I'm not in to them. I too make excuses to look at my phone or walk around while watching them. Especially because J always insists we watch them when it's dark!
  • We will be taking the girls down Main st. All the local businesses get together and close off main st and do trick or treating there. Addy is going as heffalump and Averie will be pooh's hunny jar. As for the weekend OMG I'm so excited I will be off for 4 straight days and Heather promised to take the kids to my cousins tomorrow so I can sleep in YYYYYAAAAAYYYYYY :) and for Sunday I have no clue yet. We will probably be lazy and veg around the house because  the kids have doc appts all day Monday so that will be a lot of running around.

QOTW#1 I use to love getting Sugar Daddy

I got a call from daycare today that B wasn't feeling well -- coughing, temp of 100, and refusing his bottle.  But the temp went down, he's not coughing a lot, and he's since eaten normally, so I think he's fine.  S is working tonight, so I was on baby duty and candy duty.  I was going to take B to a few neighbors to show him off, but it was too hard.  I just dressed him up for the photo op and ordered a pizza.

We were supposed to have a bunch of friends over, and I was looking forward to it, but S isn't feeling well -- and we thought B wasn't -- so we cancelled.  Cleaning and groceries.  It's supposed to rain all day and I want to make a big pot of soup and hunker down.

No plans on Sunday.  S works.  Wow my weekend sounds exciting!

QOTD: I love candy.  I've always loved Reese's PB Cups, Kit Kats, Twix, Mounds and 100 Grands, but lately have discovered Take 5 and Fastbreaks.  We have PB Cups and Kit Kats left over in great quantities and I'm a little worried about my self control around them.  We also have Snickers which I could take or leave.  As for scary movies -- no.  No way, never.

  • We had EV's work Halloween event yesterday. I think 2-3 thousand people showed up. The scroll I helped make, and the castled turned out amazing!   It was great to see her co-workers again and touring the different sections of the building was so much fun. Kaden loved playing the games and seeing lots of interesting things. We don't give him candy so we avoided the "trick or treating part". He did grab a rice crispy treat off a low table, and ate a few jelly beans that he snuck into his mouth before I could stop him ;-)

They had catered food afterwards so we are dinnee and headed home.

Today was a rainy, chilly day. We stayed in and I paid bills.  The kids and I also did one art project. Kaden painted a ceramic dinosaur and Owen smeared around yogurt paint (organic plain yogurt mixed with food-based dye).  He was not that enthused to get messy!

This evening we headed over to sweet tomatoes for salad and soup and then dressed Kaden in his costume and watched a movie called Vampire Dog, it was a really cute family movie not the least bit scary.  We only had two batches of trick-or-treaters, so I told the last group to take as much as they wanted and they nearly cleared me out :-)  I don't want the candy to hang around so I'm okay with that.  The kids were super cute and Kaden looooooved answering the door.

Tomorrow I'll likely go grocery shopping and cook something healthy and hearty. Sunday I might meet friends at the playground. EV has homework all weekend, so it'll be a low key weekend for us.  I'm looking forward to it.

Our biggest "news" is that Owen is totally starting to crawl. It's crazy he's not even 6 months old yet. Today he made it all the way across the room in minutes. He mostly only goes backward, but he's slowly starting to inch forward. Kaden didn't start crawling early (I think he had just turned 7 months). Eeek it changes everything to have 2 mobile kids. BUT  it's so fun to see Kaden and Owen play even more interactively now.

QOTD: I'm not really into candy. I'd say Twix or M&M's would be my favorite.

QOTD:  Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter is about as scary as I get.
  • We took the kids trick or treating last night. Our neighboor was pretty dead and 80% of the houses didn't give out candy. Grinches. Thankfully, we live in a townhouse community, so there are a ton of houses nearby and the kids did fine with the remaining 20%.

I am working today. L and the kids raked the yard, went to lunch, and she dropped them off at a birthday party and is doing errands. I will meet them for dinner. Sunday - We will do church, hopefully home to get ready for the week, and then the kids' sports games. We will do dinner with friends and then head home.

QOTD: I am not too picky. Lindt truffles are my fav, but not usually in a pumpkin. I do like Almond Joys. :)

QOTD: I don't do scary movies. At all. I get up and leave during the first 3 minutes of Criminal Minds....
