Fit Friday (finale edition)

Happy Friday and Happy Halloween, all! I'm so glad it is the end of the week again. I called this the finale edition because I confess I am just beat. I think my fitness focus lately is just trying to manage various discomforts as best as possible. I know some of you are still charging on and that's awesome, but I am slowed waaaaay down. Enough that I'm retiring my Fit Friday cap after this week. It's been lovely to check in with you all and I know I'll still see you on the board :)

How was your week this week? Are you fitting in some fitness?

And I'm thinking of going out on a high note with this QOTW:
What's a fitness accomplishment you're proud of? (from anytime in your life, and any kind of fitness). Time to AW it up!

I'm finally getting back on track with my walking and it makes me feel so much better, but I 100% understand you when you say you have slowed waaaayyy down, I am dealing with the same thing so now I just go for time instead of miles. I've walked 2 times this week & had my spin class twice, hopefully, I'll get in 45 minutes of walking later today!

    What's a fitness accomplishment you're proud of?
I ran a marathon last November! By far the coolest thing I've ever done and I will do it again after Little Dude is born!

  • Still going strong over here. Got in all of my workouts this week.  Tonight I might just go for a run instead of the gym since I need to be ready to take DD TOTing.

I will miss you being in charge of Fit Friday @megbmeg!  I don't mind posting it (that's if I can remember!)

My biggest accomplishment: I've run 12 full marathons - I've run the Boston Marathon 8 years in a row. But my biggest accomplishment was probably the Goofy Challenge at Disney World (39.3 miles in two days - half-marathon Saturday and a full marathon Sunday.)   I really want to do that again one of these years!

  • I'm also having to slow down. I was doing 2 days on, 1 day off, but now it's just a workout every other day otherwise I hit a mental and physical wall around 3pm. But I still got in 4 Crossfit workouts this week, at light weights and easy pace.

My biggest accomplishments, I've got 2. One is a brown belt in Krav Maga that I earned a few years ago. I think my instructor is still not 100% convinced I didn't get pregnant just to postpone having to do the black belt test (which I am not super excited about doing because I know it will really suck). The other is being able to do pullups. I bought a pullup bar that fits in a door frame, and I worked them daily for about 4 months before I was able to do a complete dead hang pullup, and I was very proud. I can still do a few even now, which I think is pretty cool.

I will say I'm basically in awe of you ladies who have run a marathon. I did a 10 mile race a couple of years ago and it was very difficult for me - being able to go more than twice as far is amazing!

I actually had a much better week this week.  I went to the gym 3 times for an hour each. I also got in one walk.  I wanted to walk more, but it has been pouring rain here all week.  My gym membership runs out in 2 weeks (pretty good timing), so I know I won't be too motivated after that.

The two summers before I was pregnant, I started doing much more road cycling.  I did two "century" rides which were 100 km each.  One in Victoria which was 105 km and had just a couple of quick drink stops and then one in Portland where it was a "gourmet century".  It was 110km, but we got to stop for a food break every 25km or so including a gourmet lunch.  Looking forward to doing one again....maybe this coming summer?

  • I resumed yoga this week to try and get a few last classes in before the birth. It made me feel good but there is definitely a big difference between now and earlier in pregnancy. I'll try going as much as I can but I'm definitely starting to slow down too.
  • I feel you @megbmeg ! Sorry for my long hiatus from the bump!

Unfortunately I've been on bed rest since my scare last week, and though the OB cleared me for work, he's banned me from exercise for the rest of my pregnancy. ...like even a walk in the park is apparently out of the question because he doesn't want my stomach jolted at all.

I'm a loser though who can't sit still. So today I did light weights with my arms while sitting --- I figure it was safe since I wasn't using my abs. I also did my pelvic rocks (which I'm cleared for) and squats (cleared too). Hopefully this baby comes out shortly after hitting full term. I'm SO tired of feeling like I can't move like I used to :(

Accomplishments - I've run two half marathons, and my cycle instructor used me as one of his model/participants for a cycling phone app he's developing.

  • Slowed way, way down. Refreshing to know I'm not the only one :) this week I only went for one walk, but tried to go longer than normal. Accomplished my nightly squats and light dumbbell exercises for most nights. (Kind of) accidentally missed an aquatic therapy session, but made it today!

Biggest accomplishment... hmm, I went through a period of time where I completely stopped being active in high school. Gained a bunch of weight and then lost a bunch in a not so healthy way. About 3 years ago I turned that around and picked up running, weight training, and yoga and never felt better!
  • I have only been truly working out one day a week by taking a barre class. This week was the first week I was winded from start to finish. I have 2 more classes on my punch card so I'm hoping I can make it through them. I'll be 33 and 34 weeks when I go. I've tried to make it out walking several times per week but rainy season just started and is rather sit at home. Last pregnancy I was in the gym 4-5 days/week until 38 weeks so this time I feel like a lazy blob.

  • Thanks so much for running this @megbmeg! I'm winding down, too, so I can absolutely see where you're coming from.

How was your week this week?
Are you fitting in some fitness? Yes! Finally a better week for me. I made it to Zumba twice and am hoping to be back up to 3 times per week by next week. I've been so sad missing my classes!

And I'm thinking of going out on a high note with this QOTW: What's a fitness accomplishment you're proud of? (from anytime in your life, and any kind of fitness). Time to AW it up!
I developed an extremely debilitating illness after the birth of my son. I was pretty much couch bound for nearly a year. But, I was able to fight back from it with the help of my beloved Zumba. I started out again so slowly and just kept plugging away until I actually felt fit again and my health improved immensely. I am really freaking proud of myself for not giving into the despair that accompanied that year and for believing in myself enough to feel like I could regain my fitness. I may not have made it to running a marathon but I was just as proud of myself as if I had.
