Suggestions on Maternity Pajama Pants?

Hi Ladies. I haven't posted for a while because I haven't had any burning questions or input that you lovely wise ladies hadn't already asked and answered. Anyway, I'm here now seeking any suggestions on comfy, reasonably priced pajama pants. I'm really looking for loose fitting, flowy pants that I can wear at the hospital. Thanks in advance for the help. I'm wearing a pair of pants to bed that are so old you can see through them. So pathetic I know :(

Re: Suggestions on Maternity Pajama Pants?

  • I personally love the super cheap black yoga pants at Target. The fold over waist is great to adjust around c-section incisions if that is a concern. I tend to go up a size just in case my legs swell after birth.

Old Navy has some really nice ones as well.

  • I found some at old navy a couple days ago. Super comfy! And on sale:)
  • I got some black ones at Walmart that are flowy and comfy.

  • I never understood the point of maternity pants other than jeans or slacks. Just wear normal ones under the bump. Try ROSS. I always dew my own PJ's but the one time I bought a pair, I got them there and they were fuzzy and comfy.

  • I got a 3 piece pajama set at Kohls then got the second set for a $1. They seem to be running deals like that lately. They were pricey for one but its a top, bottom, and coverup since the top is a tank.

I believe that works for you, and I'm quite envious, but I can't even comfortably wear my husband's elastic waist pants "under my bump" at 34 weeks, and his waist started about 10" larger than mine.  I suspect this is a luxury of the non-short-waisted. :p

  • Buy a few sizes up of normal pjs? :) I have been wearing my old pj pants which were huge and had an elastic waist anyway

  • Loving the maternity yoga pants from old navy.

  • I had these gaucho pants from Target for the hospital last time and they were awesome. They are not maternity but they go under your belly. Obviously they are not the most stylish pants but they are sooo comfy! And they were cheap - I think $12.99?

  • I just wear elastic waisted pants in a few sizes up. I took my maternity yoga pants to the hospital. Walmart has cheap maternity leggings too if you want to go that route.
  • I am short so regular pj pants are crazy long on me. I got petite yoga pants from destination maternity that are amazing!

  • Looks like i'm in the minority but SCREW PANTS! In the hospital I am sticking with the gowns I get there. I'm not to modest. I have long sleep shirts for at home but when we have the kids I do stretchy yoga pants.

I don't really have an "under the bump" at this point, unless the pants be hanging off my ass around my thighs. My bump is so low. The only half comfortable pants I have are maternity Capri leggings and yoga pants and the weather is getting cold here. I thought if could make do, but I'm seriously thinking of getting some long warm maternity pants for these last two weeks because I can't even wear DH'd sweats bc the waistband digs in, no matter how low I put it. I haven't found anything at Walmart, might have to check out ON.

  • thanks for posting this, I've been looking for the same thing. I want loose flowy sweat pant/yoga pant style pants for the beginning of December to come home with. I had my first in may so I wore capri stretch pants but I don't think that will work this time. Lots of places to check out

  • This probably doesn't help much but I've been living in two pairs of pj pants I got from Kohls about 9 years ago.  The qualities I would look for (and that I love in these pants) is they are loose and flowy but still have spandex for that extra stretch.  They also have a thin waistband that has a drawstring as well as is elasticky.  Hence the medium misses size still fitting near the end of pregnancy.

I also have some sweats from Old Navy that are similar but not as comfy... they are a back-up when my other two pairs are in the wash.

Try Old Navy, Kohls or Target and try on regular sizes that fit comfy now and have a drawstring they should be good for after baby.

  • I bought some Gilligan and O'Malley yoga pants from Target and I love them so far. Very soft, super comfortable, and they were on sale in store.

This thread inspired me to look for maternity sweatpants (as opposed to yoga pants) because as November arrives, I'm more than willing to trade a close fit for warmth and comfort, and mostly what I learned is that options aren't great and most vendors are trying to pass leggings as sweatpants. Excuse me, but I think they are the opposite?

Nylon harem pants though, that we can do: https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Length-Harem-Cuffed-Pants/dp/B00CC6Q18U/ref=sr_1_8?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1414784092&sr=1-8&keywords=maternity+sweatpants

Anyway, if any of you are NFL fans on the right half of the country (no West Coast or even Mountain teams are represented) you might enjoy this: https://www.destinationmaternity.com/maternity/nfl-football-active-pants.asp

ETA: Sorry for pregnancy brain, evidently harem pants are not in maternity size, I just clicked on them b/c they came up in the top 5 hits for maternity sweatpants.  Hope nobody got their hopes up too high.

  • Thank you all for your fabulous suggestions. I'll be on the hunt this week armed with your advice. We'll see what I come up with. I'll have to get my mom in on the hunt too- she's the most amazing shopper who always finds exactly what you are looking for at the most random place. Maybe she can work her magic again with this info!
