i feel like such a FTM with this one. He will be 4 weeks on Saturday and still sleeps ALL THE TIME. I wouldn't normally have an issue with this but I'm really struggling with his weight gain. So, when did your LO really start to wake up?
My little guy seemed to start having more awake time starting around 5-6 weeks. Still sleeps tons but instead of awake only for a feeding and change, he's now awake for an hour or two a few times a day.
During the day if DS is sleeping I will wake him if it's been about 3 hours since the last feeding. He is EBF so I don't want it to go too long. At night I let him wake on his own to feed. But I have noticed at night he will fuss for an hour or more and go right back to sleep without actually waking up or crying. I have learned to get him when he first starts to fuss and not let it go longer. Took some training on my sleeping to catch this. Also DS isn't struggling with weight so I'm not so worried. Maybe discuss with the doc at your first appointment. If he's sleeping I will try and pick him up and move around a bunch and then start to feed so he wakes up a bit during the day.
Ours started having more awake time around six weeks. Now I'm lucky if I can get him to take a nap! Lol - he also had barely regained his birth weight by the first month but gained a whole pound between weeks four and five.

Thanks! DS1 was never sleepy. He was awake every 2 hours around the clock for 6 months. This one is the complete opposite in every way. It's good for the sleep I'm getting, but I hate not knowing if he's getting enough to eat.
