Car sick kids

My 13 month old is showing signs of car sickness. We are on a trip that will be 12+ hours.
He has already thrown up once and I think it was more from eating and drinking his bottle fast than actual sickness.
He is forward facing and never gets sick on short car rides.

Re: Car sick kids

  • He has signs of car sickness. He is not sick with a bug.
He faces forward because he is too long for it and it helps with motion sickness seeing where you are going. Also having the air blow on him is easier.
He was not rushed eating. He had one bite of banana and he likes to swallow things before they are all the way chewed up.

  • I think the sign of being car sick is throwing up consistently.  I was like that as a kid.  I threw up anytime we were in the car longer than 30 mins or so.  I always sat in a window seat with the window cracked to help.

I don't think throwing up once is considered car sickness.  I also think it's unlikely your 13 mo LO is too long to RF.

  • My Dr suggested giving my ds a little bit of benadryl. Not enough to make him sleepy & do it about 15 min before leaving. Ds got where he threw up about every other time. The benadryl really helped. He eventually our grew it. Good luck!!
