Pregnant after a Loss

Our first OB today

We went to our first official appointment today as last week we just had an ultrasound. Baby is growing amazingly and the heartbeat is strong- up to 158 from 90 nine days ago. The doctor says everything looks fantastic. I am wondering though if anyone else had a dramatic change in their due date from one week to the next? Babies growth is at 8 weeks today, a full week ahead of where it was last week. Did this happen to anyone else on here? We will go back in two weeks for another scan to verify the date and take the genetic testing (verifi) if I am measuring that time frame again. The doctor actually asked if I could have been wrong about my LMP but I know I was right as I emailed her that day.

Sorry for the rambling paragraph, it is so hard to post from my phone.

Re: Our first OB today

  • Congrats on the great appointment!  Sorry - I don't have any specific story about that happening to me but I do know that it is easy to measure off on the ultrasound so I wouldn't be too concerned.

  • I have measured anywhere from 3 days to 12 days ahead the entire pregnancy at various ultrasounds, so it's possible! They never changed my due date though.

  • Congrats on the good app! My LO has gradually moved ahead. At 9w he measured right on, at 12w he measured 5 days ahead, at 18w he was 7 days ahead, and at 26w he was 8 days ahead. My EDD hasn't changed.

  • Yay for a great appointment. As PPs said that can happen so don't get too stressed out over it. Also if you're bit sure when you ovulated that could account for some sway in your date.
  • Great news! Ever since the dating scan at 6 weeks, she has measured ahead. She is up to 1.5 weeks ahead now. That bean is so small, making an error of possibility. Try not to worry too much (I know, easier said than done).
  • I am not too worried just shocked I think. Initially last week the US tech said we were measuring about a day ahead of where we should have been. Ok no big deal. But then when the doc said she was comfortable with adjusting my due date to the 11th from the 17/18 of June it caught me off guard. She said everything looked spectacular and she had all the confidence in the world that this was a completely textbook pregnancy and she saw absolutely no reason to be worried about anything. We go back in two weeks to have another scan. I will take the good news and try to stay on that high for a while. Feels good to worry a little less. Thanks ladies for all the support!
  • Congratulations! That's a great example of how much error there is on early u/s measurements. :)
