Ok to Wake alarm clock

Anyone use one of these? Its an alarm that turns green in the mornings or after naps at a certain time to let LO know its ok to wake up, get out of bed, call for mommy, whatever. K is still in his crib, but transitioning soon and has been waking super early and crying for like 20-30 mins before falling back to sleep for an hour or so. I know he needs the hour, so I let him cry, but of course I'm up and hating life when he's crying. I have started telling him at nights and for naps (he wakes at the 30 min mark every single time and cries himself back to sleep) that if he wakes up and goes back to sleep he can get a treat and it has been working! The minute I go get him he says "2 night nights! Treat!" so I know its sinking in. Sorry for the tangent.

Anyway... Just wondering if this clock has been successful for anyone? I'm hoping to get one soon (assuming it works) and get him used to it so that when we make the switch to a big boy bed he will know how it works.

Thanks!

  • @mrsmckinky Ooooo a stoplight! K would love that! Where did you find it? And can you set the time?

And I am like 130 posts back on chat stew. I love chatting with everyone, but I can't keep up so I gave up. :(

  • I was just talking to @mrsmckinky‌ about this and ordered the ok to wake one. I like that it has the time so I can use it longer. I pray to God it works because I'm at my wits end with these 5 am wakeups.

And I'm jealous he goes back to sleep for you. Emery just sits in her bed in a dark room calling mama for 45 minutes. She's a persistent bugger. No tears, just "mama? Mama? I awake! Mama? Maaaama? Mama?"

  • I just ordered one since we're going to work in DS moving out of our bed when we move. We have all sorts of plans to start some gentle sleep training, and this will be a nice addition to our repertoire.

Especially with that damn time change coming. I don't want 4:15am wake-ups.

He always wakes up screaming his head off. No matter what it seems! But usually within 5-10 mins he calms down and just rolls around and cries out every so often (keeping me awake) and manages to fall back to sleep. Just this morning he was up at 5:40, and didn't go back to sleep until 6:40! And then of course I have to wake him up to get him for daycare at 7. I'm trying to get him to learn that I wont go get him until 7 and I think hope the alarm clock will help with that!

  • There is an iPad app called "Sleep Defender" with traffic light settings. I use it for Benjamin. Red light = close your eyes and go back to sleep. Yellow (6am) = you can play quietly in your room but don't come out and wake anyone. Green (6:45) = you can come get us. Best $0.99 I ever spent!!!! It's totally customizable; you can change the times and the number of lights (two or three). LOVE IT!
