Pregnant after a Loss

Staying Positive when PGAL?

Hi all. What are you guys doing to help with this? I thought after getting through the first trimester I'd be golden in the worry department but now I have a new set of worries (incompetent cervix, preterm labor, etc). I've been having a lot of mild cramping/pressure/pulling pains which the nurse at my doctor's office said is totally normal at this stage when I called Monday, but it's putting me in a tail spin. My next appt is in two weeks and I'll ask my doctor about it and have her check my cervix. But in the meantime, in between the doctor/midwife appts, how do you not let PGAL brain take over?

Hugs to all today in general and for reading this!

  • I haven't made it that far PGAL, but for me, the mantras posted at the top of this board are so so helpful. On rough days, I just keep repeating them to myself and try to push the fears away.

Sending you hugs, and FX for a good appointment in the next couple of weeks.

  • I'm just a few days ahead of you, and I'm in the exact same boat. I was googling info about incompetent cervixes just the other day! The only thing keeping me going between appts is the doppler. I'm looking forward to being able to feel the reassuring kicks, which may not be too long from now. That said, I'm sure I'll panic when I don't feel movement, too, so as PP said this never goes away. We're through the riskiest part, so just gotta try and stay calm!

  • I agree that my doppler was awesome during that time before I felt baby movements. I also found that I was at my most anxious between 12-16 weeks (I can't really explain why). The mantras on the board were also super helpful. It is really hard, and I still feel negative at times. Sending hugs!
