Placenta previa

Hi ladies. I was Dx w placenta previa at 13.5 wks. I'm nervous about it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Placenta previa

  • I had it with DS and it corrected itself. They just monitored me a little more closely and put me on pelvic rest.

  • I had it up till 37 wks w my first. No worries. Just let the Ob know if you have any spotting or bleeding. Most of the time it moved as the baby grows
  • I had Placenta Accreta with my second son. I had three bouts of bleeding while pregnant with him,one resulted in an overnight hospital stay and a week on bed rest. I ended up having a c-section and went in being told I might have to have a hysterectomy if the placenta was deeper attached than previously thought. His delivery went smoothly and the placenta detached like it was supposed to, so everything was fine- no hysterectomy, thank God!! I am really worried about any placenta issues this time around, but so far no bleeding. Hope it doesn't develop. Good luck and try and stay off your feet when you can.

  • I had that with my son, and it had corrected itself I think around 18-20 weeks. Hopefully the same will happen for you!
  • So I just spoke to my MW today and she said I had a placenta previa. She asked if I had felt fetal movement yet and when I said no, she decided to get me into check out the fetal heartbeat. I know as a FTM, it may be a few more weeks before I do feel any movement but she kind of freaked me out! Is this a concern??
  • I was just told today that I have placenta previa... never had it before but since I have to have a C-Section anyway I'm not really worried.... hopefully it doesn't cause any other complications.

  • I was told last week that i have placenta previa. They said they were just going to check again at my ultra sound at 20 weeks and see if it had corrected itself. Fingers crossed for us all!!!
  • I was told today that I have placental previa too. I agree with what the PPs have already said - it's still early (I was 17 weeks on Monday) so it may correct itself as the pregnancy progresses.
  • I have it as well. 15 weeks today. Lots of prayers being said that it moves! I didn't have it with my other two.

  • I was told at 16 weeks after a bleed I have complete placenta previa. Our little boy is snuggled right on top of it. We are hoping it will move up, my doctor will be doing an ultrasound every 2 weeks to keep an eye on me.
  • I had it early on in my first pregnancy and it corrected itself by the time I was 28 or 30 weeks. I'm hoping the same happens for you!

  • @ally3242‌ did you have complete or partial previa? My doctor didn't seem confidant it would move. Everything I've read does say it's possible.
  • I had complete Previn with my daughter I believe, at 18 weeks. It worked itself out before the end of my pregnancy. It usually works itself out. I know there have been other threads about this, so if you need reassurance search for those.
  • @skboothy any update on if it moved or not?

I was diagnosed with complete  placenta previa yesterday at my 20 week scan. On pelvic rest until our next U/S in 4 weeks and hopefully it will have moved!

  • I had this diagnosed on Tuesday after a big bleed on Monday night. Im 18 weeks on Saturday & they just told me that they will check it again at my 20 week scan in 2 weeks & from there on. Its very common around this stage & should move up as the uterus grows. Interesting how so many of you have been told bed rest. Im in the UK & not been told this :( I basically had to go straight back to work yesterday!
