i voted i wanted to see. bc im dumb and horrible at grammar so i would be no help. but i do want to know which is correct

It makes sense without the "is" in the actual sentence. Basically, I put it the first way and my boss thinks it's grammatically incorrect. I don't disagree that the second way might sound better, but I don't think the first way is incorrect. I could be wrong though.
