Bday party favors

Has anyone seen a tin can like this anywhere?  I'm thinking of trying to do a couple of favors for LOs birthday party (just for my nieces and nephews who are coming) and I like the hot chocolate idea.

Is anyone else doing favors?  If so, what are you doing?  I'm definitely not doing a crazy party but I think the older kids might *expect* something - but I use the term "expect" very loosely as they aren't like that AT ALL, I just like to do fun stuff for them as their aunt.

Re: Bday party favors

  • Those are really cute!  Mason jars would be great as well.

I'm thinking of doing snowflake sugar cookies in a cellophane bag with a custom favor tag for favors.
Baby Girl Cbowl born 12/2013.   Love love love.

  • I feel like I have seen those at either Michaels or Joanns, but with the silver lid like mamac posted.

  • Thanks @heyitsmamac!  I missed those on my google search.  One lady who put them together said she found them at Target (the red ones) so I've looked there, Michaels and Hobby Lobby.  Oh, and Kirklands online.

I like the mason jar idea but I'm not sure if it's overdone/too trendy...

If you do Michael's or hobby lobby, they always have a 40% off a full priced item. Money saving tip.
Yes, I used mine yesterday on a giant burlap wrapped letter I didn't need ;)

They have them online. Just show your phone at the store.

  • I like the cocoa jars!! I think using mason jars would be fine.

We're doing a woodland creature theme, so my plan is to make felt animal masks, same for the big a and littles. But I need to get started in it like now if I'm going to pull it off.
  • We got custom headbands made for all the girls under 10 attending DDs party last wekeend. I spent $8 on each headband and then threw in a pack of smarties and a colouring pack from the dollar store. The kids loved them!
  • We're going to do the same thing as favors, I think it's such a cute/yummy/fun idea for winter birthdays! I'm also planning to have snowflake ornaments (her party is snowflake theme) that the kids can decorate and take home with them. Like PP's mentioned, you could use Mason jars and maybe tie a red ribbon around the lid

I would prefer the mason jar to the paint tin due to reusability.  I'd probably save the paint can in an effort to re-use it somehow but end up just tossing it in the end, whereas I can think of a lot of ways to re-use the mason jar.
  • We're doing something a little similar for favors. We're planning a "Where The Wild Things Are" party and are filling jars with trail mix and covering with burlap. We're using LO's used baby food jars.

    those are really cute!
  • You could also spray paint the lids. I did that for some shower favors I made recently.
  • We usually do small favors or goodie bags for the kids. For DS1's party, we got candy wrappers printed. Since then we've just done bags for the kids with dollar store and target bin items.
