Cloth Diapering

Prep Question

I ordered 1 dozen GMD white flats and 1 cotton workhorse. The package didn't come with prep info and I can't find it on their page without ordering the booklet.

I know you can boil flats, but can you boil the fitted? There's no PUL or anything obviously but I'm not sure if you can boil elastic? I don't mind doing them in the washer but I'm not sure what the routine is, and if the fitted can be done the same. Google isn't giving me much advice.

How do you prep your flats and fitteds?

Re: Prep Question

  • No the elastic should not be boiled.

Wash and dry 3-5 times, hot.

I thought the GMD booklet was free? Are they charging for it now?

It's free if you add it to your order but I forgot :/ If you order it on it's own it's 4.95. Which isn't much, but I don't want to wait a few days to prep until it gets here. We're just starting out with CD so I'm sure I have multiple orders ahead of me, I just hope I remember to order it next time around lol.

Thank you so much! Glad I asked before boiling the workhorse.
  • If you don't need them right away, just throw them in with your next few loads of white clothes, towels, sheets, etc.  And you can always use them before fully prepped and just remember to change more frequently than usual.

I hadn't thought of that. I guess I could just toss them in as I wash the ones I already have and then just rotate them into the stash. I only have 6 that we've been using so I wash every day anyway. At least that will cut down on the extra loads. Thanks :]
