Cloth Diapering

Bumkins wet bags

One of my friends bought me a ton of off registry stuff (which I have no way of returning) as baby presents. It was really nice of her to be so generous, but I'm left wondering about some of the items. I have two Planet Wise wet pail liners and one medium Kanga Care hanging wet bag to use at home. I was going to buy two small Planet Wise wet bags for the diaper bag, but my friend gave me half a dozen medium and small Bumkins wet bags. Will they be ok, or am I going to regret using them (ie: are they just not going to last for long, or are they going to leak all over the place right off the bat?)? Thanks!

Re: Bumkins wet bags

  • I had a Bumpkins wet bag. It was fine until I had to start dunking and swishing or spraying. The diapers were really wet then and it would leak. I still used it for awhile and just made sure I didn't put super wet diapers in it, but the zipper broke so I retired it. :-/

  • I've never used them.  But logistically speaking, if you have a dozen of them, you would just use them till they sucked, then toss them, or use them for something else (kitchen cloth that might not be so wet.)  Our diapers when out and about are rarely very wet, (not like a sprayed diaper would be) so it seems like they should be fine for that (based off of PP's comment.)  If you can't return or exchange them anyhow, I mean, what else are you going to do?  Throw them away without even trying?

    This.
  • If you can't return them and want to get rid of them, you may want to consider donating them to a cloth diaper charity.
  • Thanks, everyone. I wanted to check because I really didn't want a poopy diaper to leak all over the inside of my diaper bag if I could help it. So, I would have reserved them for cloths with spit up or damp swimsuits, something not diaper related. But, it sounds like I should have ample warning if they're going to start to wear out.

  • I have a bumkins wet bag. It works, no leaks (yet). I use it for out of the house changes - nothing is ever so wet that I would worry about it. Sprayed diapers are another story, but that wouldn't be an issue when you are out.

  • I have a large Bumkins wet bag that we've been using daily for 8 months with no issues -- We are not at the dunking/spraying/etc stage yet though.
