Pregnant after 35

Pelvic Varices (AKA Pelvic Congestion Syndrome)

Hello!  Right now I am just a lurker. I am not sure which discussion board I belong too but home to make that decision soon. Thought I would start here since all you ladies are pregnant and may have multiple children already and could possibly be dealing with this same situation as me.   I have 2 children and my hubby and I are thinking about trying for another one. I was diagnosed with pelvic varices aka pelvic congestion syndrome about 2 years ago. Have any of you ladies been diagnosed with this? If so, did you get pg after you were diagnosed with it? Any complications? Health issues due to it? I dont know alot about it and am trying to do some research before we make our final decision. I hope to be a member of this board soon if we decide to move forward with TTC.

Congratulations on your pregnancies!

  • Whoops. I think you meant to post this on the TTC board since you already posted here. Hope you find someone with experience to help you out. :)

  • I thought I would post here as well as the TTC Board since some of you may be on your 2nd or 3rd pregancy and have this condition. Just created a new post with this on the subject line based on a reply from my original post. Thanks!

  • I don't know much about the condition but does your doc consider that to be 'infertility'?  If so, you may want to try the infertility boards too.  I know those boards were super helpful to me when I was struggling with my first.  Good luck to you!!

There are more appropriate boards...ttc, high risk pregnancy, ttc after 35 etc...sometimes if you go board to board randomly posting the moderators will think your spamming or a troll.. Not saying you are but ppl have been banned.. You might use google too..

  • I was diagnosed with pelvic congestion syndrome about a year ago. I had an abdominal mass, so I had a CT of the abdomen and pelvis with contrast. The mass had nothing to do with the pelvic congestion syndrome. My doctor said it was just varicose veins in the pelvis that can cause some discomfort with prolonged standing. Treatment was to just sit down and rest. They can do surgery to remove them but he did not find it necessary. I actually do not recall ever having any pain. I think it was an incidental finding. No, it is not associated with infertility. I am now in the second trimester of my fourth pregnancy and it has not caused me any issues. I actually think the multiple pregnancies may have been the cause of it.
  • Sharon&Paul,

I hope that everything turned out okay for you.   Can I ask how they found the abdominal mass?  I am always in pain, bloated, and uncomfortable probably since I have had kids. I am wondering if anything else is going on that could be causing this discomfort.   It is good to hear that the doctor is not very worried about the  PCS.  That puts my mind at ease a little bit.  However, for myself, I am in pain alot so maybe I do need to look into treatment options.  I would like to maybe try for another child before I go down that road. I just want to make sure that it is safe and will not have any complications during pregnancy due to it. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post. I am hoping to hear from more ladies regarding this condition.  Wishing you a H&H pregnancy.
