Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome - Update

We had our anatomy scan today and discovered that our baby has hypoplastic left heart syndrome - the left ventricle of his heart does not function, and his condition is a little more compicated because the valves on the left side are also completely closed. I know I don't post often, but I was just wondering if anyone has a child with HLHS, knows someone whose child has it, etc? We were overloaded with a ton of info and stats this morning and are trying to figure out where to go from here. TIA Update - After further testing and consults it's been advised that we terminate the pregnancy. Thanks for the thoughts and advice. Don't know what else to say right now.

My cousin and her husband had a son earlier this year with HLHS - and they did a newspaper article on it - I'll try to find it and post here!

I should have also said they are SO thankful it was caught before he was here - and post surgery he's a healthy sweet baby boy !

I don't have experience with HLHS but wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through this. My youngest had different heart defects and needed one surgery. I found the Special Needs board helpful when I was going through it. Sending positive thoughts to you and your munchkin!

There's a FB page called Heart Mamas- it's private so I don't know if it will show up in a search. Lots of moms with children who have HLHS and other heart defects. It's a great community and they can help you with many questions you may have. Above all- they can give you hope and a glimpse into what being a heart mom will be like. I'm not sure if you can send me a private message through here or not but I'd love to get you in touch with some other moms, if you are interested.
