Sleeping in the bed

Any tips anyone has on getting LO to stay in and sleep in bed? My DS has started sleeping on the floor (which he does sleep) we have the crib converted to the toddler bed, but he won't stay in the bed.

  • I considered that, DH is not too thrilled with that idea.

  • We were lucky that DS loves his bed, but it was the main reason I got a Thomas 'choo-choo' bed. He actually gets excited to lay in it. I've already thought, though, it won't be long and he'll just need more space. He loves to sprawl out (as do I), so when it's time I plan to put a full mattress on the floor and then when he's old put the box spring, etc under it. I would just tell your H that it's quite normal and ask if he's willing to try it just a few days. If it doesn't make a difference, no harm done, but if it does - sleep! Maybe another option is just putting a few blankets on the floor where he normally lays so at least he's comfy on the floor - I'm sure it worries you! Good luck!

  • I agree with @clarypax. I say if he's sleeping I'd probably leave him until I went to bed then put him back in bed. If he gets out again in the night so be it. Unless of course he's tearing the place up before falling asleep. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

  • What's the problem with him sleeping on the floor? I say if he's sleeping it's all good. Especially if it's a choice you can let him make. He will probably choose on his own down the line to use the bed, and you'll avoid the power struggle in between.
