Growth Scan on 10/15/2014d

Baby only weighted 3.4 lbs and I was told that I would be getting weekly scans to make sure everything was okay. Which I am, but today I was re measured and in 2 weeks time my baby has only gain 6 oz. making him 3lbs10 oz. I am 33w4d GA as of today. I am still in the 6% tile for size. Worried if this is not enough growth. Is it possible that the size measurements are wrong? How before they decide that he is not growing enough?

If a MFM is doing your ultrasounds they're probably pretty accurate, not so much on a portable u/s machine.
If the Dr were gravely concerned, they would probably deliver you. Good luck!

  • Hmm @ 31 weeks my baby was only measuring 3lbs something & I was told she was in the 27% tile which isn't great but tech said they don't worry until it is 10% or lower percentile. Sorry you are feeling anxious but ya I'd say talk to your OB about your concerns. I go back to the doc @ 34wks (next week) and I'm going to see if they measure again as I've been a little concerned about her smallness as well. I hope you get your questions answered & hope your LO continues to grow!
  • I dont think thats anything to be concerned about. I had a growth scan last week at 31w4days and he was weighing 3lb 11oz which they said was exactly where he should be. Obviously the "exactly where they should be" fluctuates a bit. For instance if you look on The Bump and your week gestation-- My LO would be a bit big and yours would be right on track. If your OB were worried they would induce you. But I seriously dont think you need to be concerned. And it could also be off a little in the measurements.

Better question....did you ask these same questions of your doctor? What did they say? Were they concerned?

BTW - I see this is your first post...Welcome and congrats.
