Temping question

This morning I took my temp and it came back 97.55 and after reading it I reset my therm. and temped again and it came back 97.9.

I recorded the first temp. 97.55 but I can't help but wonder if something is wrong with my thermometer?  I mean I took the 2nd temp immediately after the first within a few seconds.... wdyt?

Re: Temping question

  • Just a few moves and seconds that you are awake can change your temp. Stick with the first one and you should be fine.

  • Hummmmm....thats odd.  Did you do a lot of shifting around during the time the temp was being taken?

Try testing the therm by doing the same thing tonight.  Sitting down, temp two times back to back.

I did this a few nights ago when I was bored. I was sitting still and took one temp and it came up 97.45 and then I temped on the opposite side of my mouth and it came back 98.4

  • I've had this happen before. I think any movement, no matter how slight, can cause your temp to rise. I also remember reading that you should always use the same side of your mouth to temp, that there can be a difference between the left and right sides, even how far back into your mouth you put the thermometer.
