Re: Carpal Tunnel??

  • Yes!!! It's awful my hands are constantly throbbing!

  • I am too. It started about a week and a half ago - at night. I am 38w3d along. My right hand got progressively worse to where it now is tingling and numb all day long. Definitely sucks.
  • Yep, I've got it, too, only it's not unbearable just painful and a nuisance. Doctor told me there are braces you can wear at night. Maybe give that a try...

So sorry the pain is so intense for you. :-(
  • Yep, mine started last week. I have some Ace wrist braces I got at CVS that I wear at night. It definitely helps.
  • Mine is terrible.  It started with tingling fingers in the mornings at some point this summer, then moved to stiff hands in the morning, and just this week my hands have been painful all day.

i got the braces recommendation, too.  I didn't get them before because the sensation would go away within a few minutes of waking up, but now I wish I had.  I just can't justify paying $30 for a brace when my edd is so close, though.  I'm gonna try and suffer through.
  • Mine had been pretty bad, especially at night but then a couple weeks ago I went in for acupuncture and it really helped.

  • I've had this in both hands/wrists since 20 weeks! It sucks. What helped me was sleeping in the braces and doing massages I found online. They have been discussed before on here too. If any one else has tips, share please, help us :)
  • I'm 35w4d and my right hand is awful. Left comes and goes but not as extreme as my right.

I like running cool water over my hands and stretching them.

Me too, I get up like 3 times a night to do this. The braces have been helpful...I definitely feel better after wearing them. I also just developed trigger finger in my middle fingers, they literally get "stuck"... The ortho doctors I work with said it's normal pregnancy stuff but who knew??

  • I've had it since 30 weeks, primarily in my dominant hand (which is typical). I tried the brace and that made it worse, and was so painful that I'd pull it off in the middle of the night...not to mention having to take it on and off all night to use the bathroom.

It's gotten progressively worse, but pretty slowly. My middle and pointer fingers are totally numb from the first knuckle up and have been for weeks. When I wake up, my entire hand is numb. I've dropped many a cup of coffee, and also got a nice burn because I didn't feel it--yay.

The only thing that has helped me has been to reduce sodium in my diet, and I mean drastically. I can feel the difference in the morning if I had too much salt the night before. Chamomile tea bags on your wrist might help a little too. Not much you can do beyond that.

I looked into the surgery and the options during pregnancy are not good. I might do it after delivery just to avoid having it again next time around though.

  • everyday all day.....worse at night.

I wake up at 3:45 almost on the dot every morning completely numb hands....

HANG IN THERE LADIES! WE ARE ALMOST THERE!

  • I tried the acupuncture and it helped.. I just wish I could go everyday. Kinda pricey though.. I do wear a brace on my right hand(worst one) and just wake up at night when my left goes numb :/
  • I get the "trigger finger" too! Ugh it literally gets stuck.. I feel slightly better knowing I'm not alone in this..only a Few more weeks. My midwife said she had it and it didn't go away until a few weeks after delivery... I'm guessing from the swelling
  • I have it in both hands and it's terrible. I wear braces on both hands and it helps a lot (keeping your wrists stable). I try to elevate them as much as possible, run cool water on them as well as stretch and massage them daily.
  • Mine just started this weekend. I am miserable. And I type all day. I have an apt in the AM with my doctor and going to see if he will write me an rx for braces so I can get them billed through insurance. I'm sad that there is nothing that seems to help all of us :(

  • On a positive note, now that I've had CTS for 8 weeks I've actually gotten pretty used to it. My fingers are numb enough that it doesn't bother me as much anymore, and it has stopped getting worse. Keeping sodium down has been helping a lot. I still drop my tea though!

  • This may have been the worst. From week 28-36 I couldn't feel my hands at all and would wake up in the middle of every night in so much pain.

Now it's just tingling and random pain. So excited to be able to feel things again!!!
