Any suggestions on unbearable lower back pain?

I'm 23 weeks and have been doing everything the doctor suggests. This includes resting, stretching, warm baths/heating pads, and back rubs. Is there anything else that you guys could recommend? I'd rather not take something daily, but it's at the point where I'm constantly crying

  • I've been seeing a chiro as well. Nothing else has helped.
  • My snoogle saved me..the other night I tried sleeping wout it bc it is annoying sometimes and I woke up w horrible pain. I also try to walk and notice that helps!
  • Chiropractor and physical therapy have helped me tremendously!
  • I've been seeing a chiro who specializes in prenatal care.  It's been amazing - I've only been going for 2 weeks, but I can get up and walk without being on the verge of tears! The snoogle helps too :)

  • Do you have a belly support band? That helped me tremendously with the back pain. That little extra support goes a long way! Hope you can find some relief

  • Warm showers as much as you can...get a maternity belt, make sure your boobs are in a good bra...crouch down in the shower like catcher style and just let the water rain on you...make sure you sleep with a pillow between your knees...ask your doc about Tylenol 3; it's been my saving Grace on nights where nothing else helps. Mine is lower back cuz if my scoliosis and my side, I'm dying but watching my belly move is saving my sanity! Good luck!
  • I went to the chiro today. I've been in such pain starting with my butt going into my leg. I've already feel some relief in that I can walk. She also has me wearing a belt when I'm at work and walking.
  • I am trying chiropractor next week and prenatal massage next month. I also ordered support tank tops off of zulily (they had a sale this weekend) so I am hopeful they help. Hope you feel better!!

  • I was crippled with pain as well and got a Loving Comfort Maternity Support Band- life saver! I was already sleeping with a snoogle and while it helped, the pain was still hitting around 3-4pm after a long day of work. It's pretty cheap (under $30 I believe), I highly recommend it!
  • How much are you on your feet? Making sure you have good shoes is important for your back, so I'd give that a try as well

  • I go to a chiro once a month and Im also a massage therapist with a prenatal certification.  If you can afford one, I would get a side lying massage where they can focus on your sacrum, hips and glutes.

have you tried prenatal yoga? you can get a DVD too and do some hip openers
