I know this is a little early but...

Re: N14 Twins Check In (10/27)

  • I can't believe all the outside babies now!  They are all so cute!  Congrats to everyone.

35 weeks, 6 days.  Still hanging in there.  Had to go to the hospital triage Saturday morning again (this makes 3 times now) due to high levels of protein in my urine and was diagnosed with mild pre-eclampsia now.  They released me though and today I have a doctor's appt, ultrasound, and nonstress test.  I don't think these babies are going to be in here much longer!  Despite all of that, I still feel good so I guess that is good at least!

QOTW:  Purple is my favorite color.  Pretty much any shade of it!

  • Congrats @ktibbits1‌ & @Amandakea15‌! Looking forward to updates :)

@morrkim‌ Yay for making it to 38 weeks! That's awesome! I'm afraid to ask - how are you feeling?!

@tiersa_smith‌ The photos you shared were beautiful. You look amazing & your girls are precious!

I'm 36w1d today. I feel grateful to still be pregnant, but I'm definitely reaching the "get them out of me" stage. My next NST is on Friday - I'm hoping we'll also be given an eviction date then.

Vent time - I feel like my OB turned on a switch to "Cya later! You're the hospital's problem now!" and it's getting irritating. The hospital where I'm delivering has the OBs on a rotation, so touching base w/ him during NSTs/monitoring has been hit or miss. I now deal w/ random med students & doctors that I've never met before... awesome. Supposedly 38 weeks = eviction time, but nobody is giving me a straight answer as to a "plan". Considering it's less than 2 weeks away & a likely c-section... WTF? I think everyone is hoping the girls will just arrive on their own time, but not knowing is driving me nuts. Hoping Friday brings an update.

GL & lots of positive thoughts to the rest of the "inside" ladies! Hope you all are hanging in there. We're almost there! :)

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

Really can't believe we've made it this far! Congrats ladies!

I'm huge. Babies are huge. On Fridays growth scan with the MFM he said they were 8&8.5lbs. Even did all the measurements twice. We shall see how accurate that is when they come out. He said it can be up to 15% off. Lost my mucus plug on Tuesday but docs say that doesn't matter could still be another week. Contractions are what matter. My NST showed I've had a few. I am now feeling the random ones so I'm guessing it won't be long now. I really don't want them to come on Halloween so I'm sure with Murphy's law that'll happen. CSec is scheduled for the fourth. 38w3d. Have twice a week ultrasounds and NSTs so everything is in the car in case I get grounded from one of those.

I've been a stressball this entire pregnancy due to previous losses but hitting 37 weeks has made me start to have fun. Had a nice weekend DH took a bunch of maternity photos of me. We even did some underwater pool shots. Hope they turned out.

Had a group dinner with our friends last night that felt like a "going away" dinner which was weird. At the end Everyone hugged us and were talking about their Halloween plans this weekend and I just kept thinking we will mostly be in the hospital or at home. No way I can walk around that much.

Although I told DH I'd dress like Jabba the hut if he'd be my slave Leia :P

Black is my favorite color. Then blue.

Congrats again ladies. Can't wait to see who's babies we meet next :)

@missvolvo - Sorry to hear about the trips to the hospital, but I am glad you're at least feeling good! I can't wait to see your birth announcement soon! :-)

@MrsC430 - So your OB isn't the one delivering your twins? I totally hear you on not getting a straight answer from anyone on when the babies should be born. I'm getting that, too. Since I'm looking at a C-section, I don't see why they don't just freaking schedule it and if they come sooner they come sooner?

@erinwithtwins - Oh my gosh! 8/8.5 lb! Holy moley those are nice sized babies. I'm glad you are getting some time to relax and enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy. Love the costume idea!

AFM: I'm 35w4d and just had my first NST today.  While I was there they did an US and checked the babies' fluid (looking good). Everything looked good on the NST, although my son was being a jerk and kept turning away from the monitor so we kept having to chase him around. I go in for a biophysical profile and another US Thursday. All signs point to these babies staying put until we make them move (hoping this isn't an omen for their young adult years!)

I had a nice three-day weekend and kept horizontal as much as possible and swelling stayed down to a level I'll call "Pleasantly Puffy" instead of the "StayPufft Marshmallow Woman" I'd been all week.

    ...and for the random question

My favorite "color" to wear is black (I know technically it's not a color). I have a ridiculous amount of black clothes (I swear I'm not a Goth). I just love how it goes with anything, is slimming and just simple. My favorite color just in general is chartreuse, though. It just makes me happy seeing it.

    (I kind of love colors).

  • @morrkim‌ I'll be thinking of you on Thursday! Fingers crossed for a smooth induction!

@absolutelymaybe‌ Exactly! I don't get it, but "glad" I'm not alone in feeling that way. My OB's rotation day @ the hospital is on Fridays, so if we're able to schedule a Friday section/induction, he'll deliver. Otherwise, it'll be whoever is on call. Lesson learned about not using a big group practice for a future (likely never happening) pregnancy ;) Happy to hear your NST & U/S went well!

  • Feeling pretty good for 37 weeks. Heart burn is probably my biggest complaint. Sleeping is a challenge but better than it has been in some ways.

The babies officially have an eviction date- 11/11. Hopefully they will come on their own before then, but it is also kind of nice to have an end date. And hopefully this will give them enough time to get head down.

As for colors: I love the color orange most. It just makes you happy.

Nothing really new to report. It's hard to walk and breathe. And various body parts hurt. But I am grateful for each day these little guys continue to bake.

I had an OB/NST appointment this morning and I just had to ask my doctor..."Is there a chance one of these babies is going to come out with a square or rectangle shaped head?!" My belly has been sitting in my lap for weeks (unless I'm lying down) and, sometimes when I stand up, I feel a little head (just above the pelvic bone) and it's a weird shape. I change positions often and walk around but it was still concerning me!  He reassured me (with a smile) that, "No, the baby will have a round head." Hahaha! I know it's a silly (okay, stupid) question but it was starting to freak me out every time I felt that little head bump. :p

    Favorite color: purple

  • Hey all

I have an update. No names but an update
  • Well, Oct. 28th tipped the scales. With @morrkim and @erinwiththetwins double bundles of joy, the N14 Twins group officially has more outside babies than inside babies.

    Wonder who will be next...?

(Thinking not me unless it's completely random and my water breaks. I've had no signs of going into labor and Drs don't seem to be in any big hurry to get them out. I have an appointment tomorrow, though.)

TLDR: I have outside babies! Long recovery.... But we are getting there!

Call it mothers intuition... I went for my NST on 10/23, and my bp was off the charts. Once the 24hr test results also came back off the charts, it became clear I wasn't going home still pregnant.

Dr came in to let us know we'd be having a c-section- earliest around 7pm (this was around noon). I told H to be there by 5. Then a resident comes in to introduce himself & says earliest 5pm. I text H and tell him the change. Almost as soon as I put my phone down, anesthesiology comes in, and says it looks like no earlier than 3.

     Well then!

By the time H was there, someone else had spilled the beans that the general consensus had changed from section to vaginal, and did i want to try? H and I quickly discussed and we said sure. I was barely at 1 cm, but hopeful we could jump start something.

After 3 doses of misoprostol, and over 15 hours of pretty decent crampy contractions, with almost no progress, we decided it wasn't going to happen, and we went back to the csection plan.

The pre-surgery blood work showed lower-than-normal counts, but not awful. On Friday, (10/24) at 1:24 and 1:25 pm, Zoey Joan (7lbs) and Garrett Martin (6lb, 15 oz) were born. They were both checked out right away, and everyone was impressed at how great they looked for 36+3. They let me carry Z back to the recovery room.

Due to the severity of my pre-e, they wanted me on the mag for a full 24 hours after the birth. I was fully on bed rest the whole time, and unable to eat or drink. Both Z and G latched on right away and that was amazing!

But that's also where things got blurry.

I don't remember much about the next 48 hours. I guess my bp tanked, and follow up bloodwork showed those levels also tanked. I was given a blood transfusion while they explored to make sure there wasn't any internal bleeding. I was finally feeling a little better by Sunday. We were transfered to our PP room. The hospital photog came in and took some adorable pics.

The LC came in, and had me tandem nursing in no time. I felt like a rock star. Then they started the car seat tests.

Z passed with flying colors. G, on the other hand, did not. He was sent off to the NICU for monitoring. He continued to have a few episodes which caused more concern. We spent the next few days waiting to see what would happen with G. Z and I were discharged last night, but G remains in the NICU.

We visit him as often as we can, to talk, feed, cuddle, etc. it's harder now that we are back at home. Both of my babies need me, but I just can't be both places at once! H has been my rock, bringing in any pumped milk each morning. My milk has finally come in, so we are hopeful! Z was under a little watch of her own, losing over 14% of her birth weight! and being discharged at 6 lbs even. At a pedi appointment today (12 hours post-discharge) she weighed in at 6,4. Phew!! I think that's about it!! Z and I are happy to be home, but we miss G so much!!
  • @zamboni00 - Oh my gosh! Congratulations!!! So happy for you!  I hope Garrett gets to come home soon.

Happy to share a birth date with you @morrkim‌

Anyone else amazed at how much the uterine contractions suck? Way worse than the labor contractions.

Hang in there ladies with the inside babies. Can't wait to hear about them all!!!

  • Hi ladies :) Just got back from an appt / NST and wanted to update. Babies are doing great, and I'm at 1.5 cm dilated. Not surprising, since my cramps & lower back pain has been picking up the past few days.

We had talked about a 38 week induction/section, but my Dr. seems confident the girls will make an appearance on their own by sometime next week (!) I go back to the hospital on Tuesday for another cervical check & an U/S to confirm that Baby B is still transverse.

Slightly freaking out that the end is so close. I'll keep you ladies posted!

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!
    image
  • I also have an update. Our appt last week showed that Baby A is not growing as quickly as they would like to see. They've always been pretty close in size but Twin A was estimated to be 5#9oz and twin B 7#8oz. They also identified some restriction on Twin A's cord which is reducing flow and could be causing the low weight gain. Neither issue is an emergency, although both the weight percentage and cord flow rate (or whatever it was called) are both right at the cut off of what would be cause for an emergency.

Oh- and both babies have flipped from transverse to breech so unless they flip head down (incredibly unlikely now that they are breech) we will be having a c-section on Monday at 38 weeks. I'm pretty nervous/anxious about the surgery and pretty much dreading the recovery restrictions but it's looking like the vaginal birth ship has sailed without me. I am glad the babies are still ok, obviously, but am really mourning my birth plan. Happy to have made it to 38 weeks though, so I guess that is something.

I will update you guys after they arrive. Can't wait to find out their sexes! If you have some time I would love to get some positive thoughts sent our way. Thank you.

  • @CPM13‌ Sorry your birth plan has changed but that's great you'll be 38 weeks at delivery! I'll keep you in my thoughts. So excited for you and can't wait to hear which team you're on. :)

  • Hey ladies,

So in my usual fashion there is always excitement! We all came home on Sunday 10/26 everything was great. The babies only lost about 4-5oz each both passed the car seat tests. It was a rough time for me of course the hours following the c/s my blood pressure was extremely high so they started me on Mag Sulfate(devil drug)for 24 hours so I am stuck in bed which after a c/s is awful because you need your core muscles to move and I was barely able to. I couldn't eat or hold the babies for the duration which was torture. So my 24 hours ends at 2am so I am not eating or walking then. So I finally start walking about 36 hours after the c/s not the best thing. So the rest of the weekend is fine go home Sunday. Yah!!! Monday morning I feel like crap all day my b/p is elevated again to 183/90 so I call on-call doc he says double up on Bp meds and come in morning for a check. Tuesday morning I go to the doc my b/p is 190/96 so they send me to the hospital. I go back on mag sulfate and they try for 9 hours to lower my now 204/96 blood pressure. Finally internal medicine gets involved and finds a drug that brings me down to normal quickly. My back is also killing me they think I may have a Pulmonary Embolism so I go for a CTA and it shows I have pneumonia(what??) apparently from the c/s and being on my back in bed so long I got fluid in my lungs. I have to spend 2 more days in the hospital. My FI had to take care of all 4 of our kids by himself like a champ while I was inpatient. I am very lucky to have him!! I came home on Thursday so far so good. The new meds seem to be working, I am on heavy duty antibiotics for the pneumonia. I am hoping things continue on the up.

@zamboni00‌ Congratulations!! I hope baby G comes home very soon! I couldn't imagine how difficult it is..

@erinwithtwins‌ OMG those uterine contractions are awful!!!!! I thought my whole insides were cramping up.

@KimmieS1756‌ Awesome news on your rock star babies!!!

    @MrsC430‌ Good Luck!

    @CPM13‌ Sending positive thoughts!!!! :)

  • @CPM13‌ I'm sorry to hear about your birth plan, it seems things can change so quickly with twins. We still don't have an official plan... ugh. (Baby A is head down, but Baby B is transverse... so could go either way). Awesome for making it to 38 weeks though! Sending you tons of good vibes for Monday. Can't wait for the update :)

@Amandakea15‌ Wow - that whole ordeal must have been stressful! So much to deal with at once. Crossing my fingers that you're on the mend now. Take it easy & keep us posted!

@KimmieS1756‌ So happy for you! Welcome home to your strong little rock stars!

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!
