I am in need of a new carseat for this baby and thought because I also needed a new stroller I could get a combo. Any recommendations and why? Also on the flip side any ones to avoid and why? Thanks!!!

Best
budget set: Urbini Petal. Installed the seat a couple times
and really like the features.
Also good: Graco Snugride 30 or 35, they often come in sets
with strollers. Safety First Comfy Carry Elite (make sure it has the
front adjust.) Chicco Keyfit 30 - really great seat. Very popular and easy to use. Comes in a travel set.
Not so good: baby trend, graco snugride 22, and anything with a
rear-adjust harness. None will fit average newborns well, and they
aren't very user-friendly. Pricier seats - all have to pass the same testing, so
more $ doesn't mean safer. Usually just extra features/fancy fabrics. Uppababy Mesa, Nuna
pipa, and Graco SnugRide 40 (but avoid this one if you have a smaller car,
though).
Never been impressed with any of the Britax infant seats.
I also got the chicco keyfit and their stroller. I don't use the stroller tons, but it's nice. I now also have the chicco nextfit for my DS and love them both. They're great quality and are simple to use/transfer between cars. They're also easy to take the covers off so you can throw them in the wash!
I love the Britax B-safe carseat and the B-Agile stroller. They work together like a travel system and are fabulous!!
The B-Agile is so light and easy to open/put away. The only draw back is that later on, my toddler wanted to sit more upright. Mostly now, the toddler walks. Overall, I loved this combo system.
Although, I have been eyeing some of the new chicco strollers that weren't around when I was pregnant the first time. I don't know if I'll need a double with an almost 4yo. We'll see-- she refuses to walk outside now.
We have a Chicco keyfit30 from my first, but didnt like the bulky strollers that were available as travel systems at the time, so we got a city mini gt and seat adapter which I LOVE! They have come out with better chicco travel systems since then, though
My SIL has the Britax stroller and just like @J234 points out, it sits super low and reclined. She gripes about it and her son looks kind of awkward riding in it now that he's toddler age. Travel systems aren't for me, so I can't attest to any others. I do have the Britax Bsafe and it's a good seat but it's really heavy. We have a Chicco Nextfit (convertible seat) now and I LOVE it. If I had to do it over again I would get a Chicco infant seat, or I might skip the infant seat all together and go straight to the Nextfit.
My opinion is to stay away from all "travel systems". They are big and bulky. I would recommend finding a great car seat (I chose chicco) and then finding your good lightweight stroller. I used a snap and go while they were infants and then switched them to a city mini when they were a little bigger. I also bought a bob. It is great in the grass, gravel, etc... Hope this helps!
Pretty much ANY stroller/carseat combo can become a "travel system" since most strollers have car seat adaptors so you can just click in the carseat. We have a chicco keyfit 30 and an uppa baby vista and love both of them--the carseat can just click into the stroller. I would say for carseat, the chicco keyfit 30 or graco snugride 35 are the most common.
FOr stroller, it really depends on your needs--budget, how much you walk vs drive, if you want the option to covert to a double, what sort of terrain you'll be using it on.
I wanted to look more at strollers that are like Phil & Teds. That you can add a seat for a second child. Since we want to have a second soon after no1.
I have the graco 35 and recommend against it! It works fine but it is a BEAST. And most children will outgrow the carseat by height before they outgrow for wt anyhow… the 30 is much more manageable, lighter to carry etc.
As for strollers I suggest you look at your lifestyle and what you need a stroller to do. The right stroller will be different for different people. I have a BOB Revolution and the duallie and love them. I needed joggers bc I do run with my kids, and use them on walks a lot too. I use them as my only strollers at the mall etc. Work fine!
Anyone familiar with the Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect Travel System? I've been eyeing this one in particular. We go on a lot of hikes/walks/runs so I like the idea of a jogger.
I love the Britax b-agile for the car seat. However for the actual stroller I went with the city mini baby jogger. I compared it to the Britax stroller and loved it so much more.
I eyed that one (just the jogger, not the travel system) but it's really not meant to be a good jogger. I ended up going with the Baby Jogger Summit x3 when DD was much older (just shy of a year?). The age thing was at the recommendation of our pedi. She said that their little spines/heads/brains aren't developed enough for the jiggling of a jogger so to wait until she was at least 9months.
