Hello,

I found these forums by googling as I have started driving my husband crazy by wanting to talk about IUI and stats constantly. He is awesome and listens but I think we will do better as a couple if I can ask my theoretical questions to people other than him :)

For introduction, we are both 31 and have been married for 6 and a half years. We started TTC early in 2010 but due to life circumstances did a lot of try for 3 months, avoid for several, try some more. I didn't start to get worried for several years because of this, but even after we had been trying for 24 total (non-consecutive) months my family doctor wouldn't refer us to get evaluated until we had tried for a year straight. And then it took several months to get in, so finally in Jan 2014 we saw an REI. All my tests came back normal but DH's SA was highly abnormal with only 25% motile and 94% abnormal in addition to low counts. The REI offered IVF-ICSI or repeat testing in 3 months and we chose the latter. So we repeated testing, saw a urologist (another few months of waiting) and finally this summer were ready to start treatment with IUI as his counts had improved but still >90% abnormal. Then we had to wait two months for cysts to resolve...

So, this month we did our first IUI cycle, clomid and HCG trigger. Today is day 9piui, day 10ptrigger. The IUI itself was really anticlimactic after feeling like we had been building up to this for 9 months. I was really down about the cycle initially, partially because I felt awful as I had an allergic reaction to the hcg trigger and partially because I was reading way too many statistics and it just didn't feel like it was really possible for us to get pregnant. The list of BFPs in the various check in threads made me feel a lot better as they were real people

Officially diagnosed with unexplained infertility after 4 years of TTC
IUI#2 gave us DS#1 who became an angel a few minutes after birth from Noonan syndrome
IUI#4 gave us DS#2 - going strong as a toddler!

TTC again... Found a clinical trial for unexplained infertility and finished 16 weeks of "lifestyle intervention"
Cycle #1 - cancelled for ovarian cyst x3...

    Welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your reaction to the shot, but I'm glad you're feeling better. Your story sounds a lot like ours with the trying and then stopping because of other things that come up. I just recently joined as well and I'm really enjoying these boards. Good luck!

    Welcome! I'm mad at your family doctor, by the way, there was no reason to make you wait like that. :( But glad you were able to get in the care of an RE!

    YH's numbers sound typical for women who can often get pregnant from IUIs. I hope this cycle works out for you!

    It's true that there a much higher chance of a BFN than a BFP each time, but then again, even healthy couples trying naturally only have a 20% or so chance each month. :) I find it easier to expect a BFN and then the disappointment is less, but other women find it easier to get through the month by remaining really positive - whatever works for you is fine!

    I'm sorry it took you so long to reach the point of treatment, but I'm glad you're there now!  FX!

    Me: 31 (PCOS) possible right tube issues DH: 36 (SA normal) 
    Started dating in 2006, Married 2012 
    TTC since November 2013 
    First RE visit due to irregular periods: June 2014
    Lap/Hysto to remove polyps, cyst and tube blockage 11/6
    Cycle 1 (Dec. 2014) TI with Clomid, Trigger, & Progesterone CX due to no response
    Impatiently Waiting CD1 to try again with Fermara Back on the bench due to giant cyst,
    who know I'd ovulate on my own after a cancelled cycle and end up with a mega cyst :(

    Me: 23 Low AMH and damaged ovaries due to chemotherapy.
    No AF or O in 3 years. HSG showed a slight T shaped uterus.

    High Risk OB 9/29- got the ok to get pregnant.
    RE Appt:  10/28/ U/S showed follicles, but also small damaged ovaries.
    B/W results CD0: all normal except low AMH at 1.3
    Cycle 1-November (TI)- Femera 2.5mg, 2mg Estradoil, and Trigger=BFN
    Cycle 2-December (TI)- Femera 2.5 mg ,4mg Estradoil, and Trigger= No O

    what the hell does it matter if the 24 months were straight or not?  Each month is an independent event - the chance is 20-25% (assuming no issues) no matter if you tried the last month or not.

    Welcome and FX for your IUI! The TWW is horrible, but I found this board super helpful (as did my husband for the same reasons you mentioned. I can get a little stuck on a topic, and it's better for me to just explore and chat around here than drive him crazy! Lol! Men like to fix things, so just talking about possibilities and stats or other people's stories, does not generally fit for them!)
