Anyone have this pump and noticing a decrease in suction? I've washed all my parts, put back together, put it on the highest suction and it doesn't seem to be "doing the job". If not, have you ever dealt with medela customer service? I will be calling tomorrow and wonder if I'm up against anything...
I was getting worried about my supply and then I used the manual pump all day today and did great with nearly 5 oz easy session when I was getting hardly 3 with the electric pump. I was thinking of just using the manual when j go back to work and have to pump more. It's easier and quicker to set up and clean too.
1) I use different size "boob funnels" ( I don't know what they're actually called) for each machine. With the PISA I use the 21 mm, but with the freestyle I use the 24 mm.
I met with an LC before returning to work and she suggested the 24 was too large for me; however I did notice that the 21 seemed to not work well with the suction power of the freestyle, so I went back to the 24 for that one. I realize that this seems odd because the freestyle seems to have slightly weaker suction than the PISA.
2) I have found that the freestyle will not perform well if the membranes are wet, which frequently happens if you rinse it and keep it in the fridge between sessions
3) I do generally have to use the freestyle longer than I do the PISA (which I keep at work), but the freedom allowed by the freestyle makes up for it. I can eat breakfast, make lunch, make coffee, brush teeth, and put on makeup while pumping for about 25 minutes.
4) I have never tried a manual pump so I have comparison there
I called customer service this morning. They are wonderful!!! Overnighting me new supplies and if that doesn't work, letting me get a new one. I have a manual too I am using until then. It's better than leaking constantly!!!

I was just going to say this. Medela has wonderful customer service. When I was pumping with DS, I called them about an annoying click my PISA was making. They just sent me a new one without any further questions. I wasn't even after a new one, just an answer or solution to the clicking noise.

I had to do this, too. One side of my pump barely had any suction and the Medela guy said there could be a crack in the tubing. They overnighted me a new set and it worked. Medela customer service is awesome.
