My Symphony pump got stolen from my truck tonight. It was the first time we went out without the baby and this happens. I am so upset. How am I going to feed the baby? We don't have that kind of money to replace it. why did this happen to me.
Oh no that's awful! To think someone would want a used breast pump..sorry. If bf is not an option, you may need to buy formula for supplementation until/if you can replace your pump. GL.
I'm so sorry! That's horrible. What the hell is wrong with people?
Can you get a manual pump in the meanwhile? I know it's not as efficient, but it's better than nothing. Or try hand expressing milk in a clean container (I've hand pumped into milk storage bags when I didn't have my pump at work).
That is so wrong! They probably thought it was something else. Make sure you file a police report so you have something to present to your insurance company!
Unbelievable!! I'm so sorry to hear this . If you're looking for a quick fix, people sell them on Craigslist all the time (unused/used). It's sounds gross, but the tubes and actual device don't get milk in them. Andplusalso the ones from the hospital you rent have been used, ya know?
Good luck and again I'm sorry there are such assholes in this world. Seriously, did they even know what they were stealing?!!
They didn't know what it was since it was in a bag. From my experience in the past my car insurance doesn't cover contents.i had 2 bowling balls stolen before.
I called the lc I rented it from and she said that medela will come after me for the full 1500 replacement value. They will basically send it to collections if I don't pay it.
I am leary of buying a used one and being out another chunk of money. Fortunately the lc said she would rent me another one.
I need to look on the bright side of this and be happy no one was hurt & we don't have to pay for the window since it was my husband's company car.
You just feel violated knowing some jerk is out there with your belongings.
We are waiting the police to call us back. We couldn't file it right when it happened since the police would have taken hours to show up.
Would those hours have been worth the $1500?
The police report would not have helped me at all with the loss of the pump. I have unfortunately had my truck broken into before. Contents in vehicles are covered under your home owners insurance policy and the deductible for that is way more than the pump. This might only be in Texas.
Police reports don't need to be filed at the time of the incendent. They can be done at a later time and we are doing one. They send a police officer to your home and collect the information. They do this to prioritize emergencies. This might only be in Texas also.
I am screwed either way and am out the money. Plus I needed to pick up the baby from the sitters so I couldn't wait around for the police all night.
I think you are right about the homeowners insurance covering the valuables even in your car.
I wish I had some advice... I do work for a car insurance company (don't hate me!). This is all super crappy for you! I will say that if you file a police report and everything, I don't think that they can charge you for losing it. I would fight it if they try.

Then here's where I am coming from: you're talking about an expensive item being stolen. One that frequently people DO try to steal from rental agencies. And a large, bulky item that it doesn't really make much sense to take with you for just an evening out. And it wasn't a priority for you to file a police report. Who knows- around here I've filed in person at the station. That's just what's going through my head- and likely what the person you rented from will be considering as well.
We got the report filed & the glass company went to my husband's job and repaired the glass.
I had to get a new pump asap since I exclusively pump & even 1 day of not pumping on my normal schedule messes up my supply. I used the hand pump but it wasn't efficient enough.
I guess the lesson I learned is to never leave the pump in the car. Now hopefully medela will work with me and maybe give me a payment plan.
Not sure if you are a Facebook user, but there are a lot of online yard sales in my neighborhood and I see them new/used for sale all the time ranging from $40-100. I know it's not ideal to get a used one but all you need is the motor and you can buy replacement parts (tubes/falages/etc) on amazon for cheap. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope the ass wipe that stole it gets caught or falls down a hole or something

I hope things get better quickly!
I'm sorry. I know you were asking about the manual pump last week, like pp said that should get you through.
And worst comes to worst, if you have to pay insurance maybe they'll do a payment plan...
Seriously though, who steals a breast pump?
