Does anyone else find yourself intentionally blocking out upsetting thoughts/emotions lately? It's like there's plenty of news & upsetting things lately but my brain wants to shut it off - like I'm pregnant, I have to focus on positive!!!
The only upsetting things I ever hear are at work when people give me theses dumb reasons why they can't pay thier bill and pre pregnancy is be really sympathetic but now I'm like yeah yeah whatever 8->
If that's what you need to do, do it. Anxiety in pregnancy is common and if you need to put blinders on, so be it. There's no one right answer about this. I block out some things, usually about hurt kids, and not others, but there are times I wish I could "unread" things or had brain bleach.

@ sugahcookie01 - I wouldn't say I'm pulling a "scarlet o'hara" I'm just suggesting that it can become overwhelming at times with raging hormones to overthink negatives of which I can not control. I'm very empathetic, maybe too much @ times which means I need to sometimes regulate where my energy output is directed.
I somehow thought this post would reference the fact that I desperately wanted a cold glass of Riesling earlier. Sigh, I can't think about THAT, or I'll want it more. Negativity is everywhere, good luck avoiding that until feb
Although avoiding stress is not possible, I do find it annoying when people talk about what a shit hole the world is and all the death and destruction-- and I am blissfully sitting there thinking, "great, I'm bringing a beautiful life into this 'shithole' world!"

I am avoiding books with strong emotional subjects because they make me cry when I am not pregnant, and now if I sob while pregnant I throw up. But real world subjects no I don't avoid.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.
Fred Rogers
My tolerance to bullshit is sometimes lower than usual... So I'd say my willingness to participate in other peoples drama is maybe less... But real world stuff no. But it's an issue by issue thing.
Example: I am somewhat ignoring the repetitive Ebola crap because people are being ridiculous (likeomgdidyouknow west Africa makes a ton of chocolate so changes are when you eat your kids halloween candy you will all get Ebola?!) but I'm not ignoring the issue at large.
@ChickenOnSunday I was keeping an eye on that once I noticed you had Ben Roethlisberger. Lol it might be super emotional for sug, I don't know if she can handle it.
Are we hijacking this with FF talk? I benched Drew Brees for Romo and Brees got 20 points. I think this was a bad decision.
Also, wassup with the steelers uniforms this week? THAT was a bad decision.
OP- Bad news doesn't stop once you become pregnant, or become a parent. I feel like I personally became more aware once I became a parent in an attempt to protect and provide for my child. I think now is a good time to start hitting the things that give you anxiety head on while you don't have the added responsibility of a new baby.
Sugah, how are you feeling after I took away your perfect record in FF?
I will live.
BUT I'm mad it's because the Steelers did well. That is more what pisses me off than anything ahaha
Well aint that some HATERADE!!! Licking my chops waiting for next week. The Steelers did more than well... they played some serious BALL. Looks like we know what team really went to Ball So Hard U! hahahaahhahha.
Chicken I was wondering how you enjoyed the 60pts Ben got you in FF... he owed you at least one good game.
Im going to go sit down now, while Im riding high on my Steelers beautiful win yesterday, my FF team cant get right.

@jaztastic tbh, you had me stalking my ff app all night last night. I really thought you were gonna beat me. It's still not done yet - your kicker could pull it through for you.
Yeah steelers throwbacks suck, they always will. But if those ugly ass uniforms lead to games like yesterday - BRING THE UGLY ON!! Besides, I think @Sugahcookie01 is scared because the ravens are imploding and are now tied up with the steelers

Shouldve started my tight end... 19pts on the bench. #-o

There are some ridiculously low team scores that are happening. Is the 35 points for @bhjones1980 the lowest of the season?
thank you for calling out my embarrassingly low FF score, the sad part was I was actually predicted to win this week.... complete and utter meltdown with my team
Vipers have totally taken over this thread... its now all about FF

With all due respect to @Ducktale, if you have team owners who aren't paying attention week to week... I want in next time instead! (though this league may not happen next year, eh... sad!)
I'm in another league too, but competitiveness over things that don't actually matter in life is kinda my favorite thing ever... especially when it involves trash talk!

I didn't take the post as some type of pregnancy entitlement. I'm well-informed, in touch with reality, and nowhere near smug about my pregnancy... Alas, I am really affected by sad news stories. I always am, but during pregnancy it leads to crying and feeling really sad for awhile after hearing/seeing things. Some nights I am exhausted and skip the news.
I also really don't want to hear terrible stories that involve children. My brain immediately goes to my daughter - not me thinking of her in that situation - but complete heartbreak that a little person as sweet as her could be mistreated or go through something so terrible. I'm generally sad that not all kids have a loving environment to grow up in. I've been a huge slushy mess with this type of thought/news ever since DD came into my life. Ah, the days when those annoying "just you wait" people told me "just you wait until you have kids, you won't be able to handle these stories anymore" and bla bla bla...
... and here I am: crying at news, avoiding tragic stories involving kids, feeding the kid fast food, letting the kid eat goldfish while watching Frozen on TV, and the list goes on. :P

Yeah...sorry, I feel bad taking a spot from someone else.
No worries, @Ducktale, I'm just super pumped about FF these days because I've already won double the number of games this year than I did for ALL of last season. =;
And the only wins I had last year were to people who weren't really paying attention, which was kinda sad for me, because I was totally on the waiver wires every week... just had a combo of bad luck and first-timer's mistakes.
This year though... I'm all about learning from last year's mistakes!
And @smg2302, my husband would be all about it if it didn't mean having to take care of two infants simultaneously. (Seriously, I asked him, and that was his reply.)
