October 2014 Moms

A week and a half late, but Lizzie's birth story.

Elizabeth Luana was born on October 16th at 2:13 am after a true resistance from my body!

On Tuesday the 14th I went in for another gel treatment after the first one not doing anything at all. At that time the doctor determined that it would be best to do the inpatient cervadil treatment as opposed to the gel because the amniotic fluid around her was low. So starting at 1:30 pm we waited 12 hours to see what the cervadil would do. After a rather unsuccessful wait they alllowed me to eat. My husband was great and brought me back a feast from the cafeteria.

Around 4 am they started the pitocin drip. Things finally started to feel like they were moving and around 12 on Wednesday afternoon I got my epidural. Unfortunately, placing the epidural basically shut off my contractions. Nonetheless, we kept waiting...

11 pm the doctor came in and told me that they were going to have to perform a c section because I was only at 5 cm, where I was when they checked at 3pm. I was excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

They get me in the operating room and while spread out across the table I felt a contraction and immediately freaked out. For whatever reason, the epidural failed and failed spontaneously. Finally, they knocked me out, and woke up to my husband wheeling her over to me in recovery.

Recovery has been a bit overwhelming especially with the amount of visitors we have had. I needed to take some time for me to heal and basically have done nothing but feed her. I can't express how excited we are for her to be here, and now that my recovery improving things are so much better!
I really missed being here, but am excited to spend the next 3 days getting caught up on all the LOs born.
(Sorry about the duplicate pic, mobile wouldn't let me delete it.)
