How many naps?

LO has been fighting her second nap so I might try dropping her to one nap.

How many naps is your LO taking and how long are they awake until bed time?

Re: How many naps?

  • Two during the week. One 30 min nap at dc after lunch and then from 4-6p once we get home. Bedtime at 8ish.

On the weekends a solid 3 naps each about 1.5 hrs. Mid morning, after lunch, and then early evening.

  • T is up at 6. I dropped him off at 7. He has breakfast then naps at DC. He has another nap after lunch.
  • Most days he has 2.  One at 9:30 for about an hour, and another around 1:30 for an hour and a half.   If he doesn't sleep in the morning, the afternoon nap gets moved up to 12:30, then he sleeps for about 2 hours

  • G is up around 7:30am, naps from 12-2, and goes to bed around 7:15. He switched himself to this schedule during our vacation a few weeks ago. He's still adjusting, but is doing pretty well for the most part.

  • Franz is usually up at 7:00, then naps at around 9:30 for 40-90 minutes, and then takes his second nap between 1:30 and 2:30 which lasts for another 40-90 minutes. Then he's usually in bed around 7:30 or 8:00.
  • Up at 6:45. First nap around 10-10:30 and is normally 1 hr 15 minutes. Second nap is usually around 2:30 and it's also normally 1 hr 15 minutes.

He will sometimes do a two hour nap and another 1 - 1/2 hour nap but that's not common. About once a week he skips his second nap at daycare and it's not pretty. He's asleep between 8-8:30 PM most nights.
  • We do two naps. Morning nap around 9/9:30 and afternoon nap around 2/2:30. However, it may be time to go down to one. It's usually only one good nap. The other is a struggle and/or is short. Of course, it's never the same nap for them. If E has a good morning nap, then H will have a good afternoon nap. I just want them to sleep at the same time and maybe one nap would accomplish that.

  • I'm glad to see other babies with a different dc/home routine.

He takes one 2-3 hour nap at dc after lunch, but I can't keep him awake that long at home. He takes an AM nap and PM nap on the weekends about an hour long each.

  • It all depends on her mood!

This has been her schedule lately (some days she's no nap though)
    Awake anywhere from 5:15-6:30 a.m.
    20-30 minute nap at either 8 a.m. or 9 a.m.
    1 hour nap around 1 or 2 p.m.
30 minute nap from 4-5 pm.
Bed around 8:30-9. :) Sometimes it's a littler earlier, but no earlier than 7:30 pm. If she doesn't get her long afternoon nap in, she takes about an hour to an hour and a half at 4 p.m.
    My daughter does exactly this.
  • 2 naps if we are lucky...

I would think that the nap to drop would be the AM one and move the PM one back earlier. When LO was on two naps, it was at 8:30 AM and 2:00 PM. His one nap schedule is supposed to be 12 PM to 3 PM.

I guess you could say that you're dropping the PM nap and moving the AM nap later to get the same result.

  • He had been taking 2 naps until recently (usually about 30-50 minutes around 10 AM and 1 -2 hours around 1:30). Now he seems to be consolidating into 1 long nap.

This weekend, on Saturday, he took a 10 minute catnap at the end of his walk at about 11 AM, then he fell asleep at 1:15 and at 3:50 we woke him up b/c we were late to get somewhere.

On Sunday, he did not take a morning nap, and he literally fell asleep while eating his lunch at about 12:15, so we threw him in the crib and he did not wake up till 3 PM!

So this is just a long winded way of saying I think he is moving towards 1 long nap early afternoon.  Oh, and he wakes up anywhere from 6-7, but stays quiet in his crib till 7/7:30, and goes to sleep between 8 & 8:30
  • Depending on Em's day, he'll do 2 or 3 naps.    On the weekends, morning nap is usually around 10:00, afternoon nap is around 1:30 and late afternoon/early evening is around 4.  At home naps are typically 1-2 hours.  During the week he's at dc so his naps are all over the place but he usually gets two (length varies but at least 45min).  After dc, he may or may not nap.  We haven't been forcing the after dc nap.

Bedtime is between 6:30p and 7:30p depending on his day and when he starts throwing his "I'm tired" signs at us.

  • On weekends, I can get her to take 2 naps, 10 and 2:30ish, but the afternoon one is a struggle. Bed time is 7:30 and if she takes the afternoon one, usually about 1-1.5hrs, she fights bedtime for hours!

At daycare, she takes the morning one, but its only 30 mins, then refuses to nap the rest of the day. She'll then fall asleep on the 15 mins drive home at 6pm. And again, bedtime at 7:30 takes hours!

I'm thinking it would make more sense to have daycare push the morning nap back a bit, cross my fingers it lasts longer than 30 mins, and she can make it to bedtime, even if I have to move it up to 7.

Pushing bedtime back is not an option since we put the toddler to bed around 8-8:30.

  • I'm trying to figure out naps as well. At DC she naps around 10/11 for 45-1hour then she rarely takes a second nap in the afternoon, very rare.
She typically then falls asleep around 5:30 with DH before I get home and might sleep for about 1 hour.

So I'd say right now it's typically 2 naps, one at 10ish, one at 5ish.

But, I'm wondering if one longer mid afternoon nap would be better.

This weekend B didn't fall asleep for her afternoon nap until 6pm, slept until 7 and then I was supposed to get her to bed an hour and a half later?
Then yesterday I tried just following her cues and she didn't get tired for a nap until 2pm!

Bedtime is always around 8:30, she wakes up around 5:30 but typically falls back asleep after a bottle for another hour until it's time to get up for the day.

    Is any if this helpful?????
