It's 4 am and I'm wide awake after I heard (imaginary, I'm 92% certain) noises on my last pee trip, which spooked me... gotta stop watching Walking Dead at bedtime!
3 am here and sleep is elusive! I purposefully avoided caffeine all day and only watched non-scary tv (fresh prince and full house) before bed for this reason! Grumble grumble. Hope other mamas are getting needed rest!
Woke up crampy from 1-2 and decided to get up and straighten my hair. In case I ended up in the hospital I wanted my hair looking nice. DH thinks I'm crazy and I might be.
After getting out of bed at 10 and having a bath I actually slept not too terribly. My cold kept waking me up but I was able to fall back to sleep. Sorry to the ladies who slept badly!
@sweetbabyrahe I think that's totally reasonable. I'm planning on showering and doing my hair when I suspect I'm in labour for sure!
Today is my first day of leave. I had the doctor put me off until my due date cause I was just done. SO just left for work and I'm looking around my house wondering what I'm going to do with myself for the next three weeks...
Sorry about the lack of sleep, ladies! I'm kind of in the same boat, but I was up all night because baby kept wiggling, and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy even though I knew I'd be a zombie this morning at school.
This is the first day of a weird, sort of short week at school. Two and a half days of classes followed by a half day workday, a full day of conferences, and a full day of "professional development." Even though they're all full days of work, it's always nice to have a break from the teaching part.
If I see one more political ad, I will throw my shoe at the TV.
Been up since 3am...and my poor dog can't keep anything down. Eats his dog food and throws up not five minutes later. Boiling him rice for breakfast now and seriously considering giving him a tums or something. Poor baby.
DS woke at 3:30 so I've been up since then. Around 4 I realized I was having uncomfortable contractions. Started timing them. We are at 5:1:1, but I'm a stm and I have a NST at 10am so I'm just laying in bed. Feeling like crap.
Morning ladies! Busy day for me, allergy shots this morning, 37 week OB appt at one pm, and grocery shopping after work. I made sure I got lots of rest yesterday though. I slept a lot Saturday night, took a nap yesterday and I still slept somewhat decent last night. Hopefully I can make it through this week now. Thursday I have a dentist appt. Friday is trick or treating and my sisters Halloween party. Saturday my cat has a vet appt for her annual shots.
Whew....makes me tired just thinking about it!
Nov. '14 January Siggy : Work Sucks!
Me 32-DH 38
Married July 14, 2007 ----- TTC # 1 October 1, 2013 BFP March 7, 2014 ----- EDD November 17, 2014 ---- Baby boy born November 16, 2014
I wasn't planning on it. DH will go to work, DS will go to the sitters. IF it all goes down (which I don't think it will) then DH would have to come home, get my bag (and his) and then come to the hospital. (Everything's pretty close around here, so I'm not too worried)
I'm only 36+1, while I'm ready to meet Little Miss, I'd like her to bake a few weeks longer...
@SarahMaureenF, I was going to ask about cervical checks. During the weekend I didn't feel LO move for hours (tried lying down, cold water, eating, etc) so I went to L&D to be safe. Everything turned out to be fine, but the OB did a cervical check. After that I lost a bit of my mucus plug. I was 36 weeks 5 days at the time and really wish I had of told her not to do that, but I really had no idea and trusted her. I read more about it online afterwards and saw that in many cases, cervical checks can bring on early labour..... Thank goodness I don't feel any other signs of labour!! Is this something that OB's typically do at appointments after a certain number of weeks? What is the difference between a cervical check and a membrane sweep?? Sorry for all the questions, I just really wish I had of educated myself more on this beforehand!! I'm really asking anyone that knows the answers, not just @SarahMaureenF
Anyway, hope that your days turn around. And @IndiannaMommy08 we used to give my dog peptic acid (small pill) for her tummy aches and it worked like a charm.
The rest of you ladies can just start hating me now. Today's my first day off (due date is Saturday). I slept well last night and plan on using this time off to continue freezer cooking...I've got some chickens and Mac n cheese just waiting to be cooked. Hollah! Lol
My baby has been rather lazy for the past 24 hours. I realized it during one of my motn bathroom trips so when I got in bed I just laid there doing kick counts and not sleeping. Now I am tired and I am going to be late for work.
Morning ladies!!!! Got some decent sleep (calling it decent cuz I now consider the waking up to pee every 2 hours normal) but woke up to super achy hips. Awesome. Being up and moving helps.. So yay for getting up at 4:30am. I've been having contractions every 5-10 min for the last 18 hours including over night. I was hoping they would pick up and would time 3-4 of them each time I woke to pee but they were still not consistent. Boo! Pretty sure I'm also Team 42 weeks or Team give birth to a toddler if it was up to my body.
@bloomraiser meh.. What he doesn't know won't hurt! just clean up any evidence of baby being in the room.
@shahn14 sleep!!! Oh and eat ice cream! Priorities
@sweetbabyrahe haha i'm glad I'm not alone in that! I've usually defaulted to a bun or ponytail this whole bed rest/medical leave but the minute I got my cerclage out I decided to keep up with the hair and makeup each morning "just in case"
@k1911 my OB starts with checks at 36 weeks. Cervix checks are more or less just checking the opening of the cervix to note dilation. With a sweep, they typically won't do them unless there's a need to start inducing labor naturally or if you're 39+. It requires that you're at least 2cm dilated (for my doc) because that allows them the room to stick a finger in/thru your cervix and then twist it around separating the membranes connecting the bag of water from the lip of the interior cervix. My cervix Checks never hurt but the 2 sweeps I've had are another story.
@mslynn2012 good luck with the contractions and hope NST goes well. bake baby bake!
@K1911 a cervical check should just be a check of how dilated/effaced and baby's station whereas a membrane sweep is an actuial intervention to start labor. I have been crampy after some of mine, but I have also been having nearly weekly checks since 29 weeks with no labor yet
Good morning ladies and "Happy" Monday! Waking up in the morning for work is getting harder and harder but waking up today and reminding myself that this is one of two work Mondays I have left helped a bit.
I had my first labor dream last night. It all happened so fast and I didn't feel any pain, I was able to wear my pre-pregnancy clothes right after, and LO slept through the night from birth. Yeah, I know...keep dreaming, right? )
So glad to hear your pup seems better @IndianaMommy08! Hoping he continues to get better!
My closest family and friends threw me a "sprinkle" yesterday. I was pretty against it because this is our second and we just had a wonderful shower two years ago. In my opinion, anything we need, we can buy ourselves. That being said, yesterday was so amazing. We got tons of diapers and wipes and few outfits. They also all went in and got me a gift certificate to a spa. They did this thing where they took a spool of yarn, wrapped in around their wrist and said something about me, then passed the spool to the next person. They are supposed to wear the "bracelet" until they hear I'm in labor, then cut it off for "good wishes". It was so incredible and there were many tears and laughter. I'm just feeling super blessed today. I'm a lucky girl.
Been up since 3am...and my poor dog can't keep anything down. Eats his dog food and throws up not five minutes later. Boiling him rice for breakfast now and seriously considering giving him a tums or something. Poor baby.
Dogs can take pepto and works great!!
Also check if they are keeping down water. You can give them dilated gatorade or pedialyte to help keep them hydrated.
And now for something completely different, I had my first N14 dream last night. We all became obsessed with pasties, the nipple covers with tassels, and ordered a bunch online. Not sure why but there were pages and pages of threads and pictures, they were kind of a big deal.
We had our birthing class on Saturday and it was great. The teacher was a lady in her 70s, and she had a very funny sense of humor...she's been present at over 3,000 births and helped deliver over a 1,000 babies!! Anyway, one of the funniest parts was when she did a little section on breastfeeding...she pulled out fake boobs for all the dads and made them try to make a doll "latch" properly too! It was hilarious to see all these guys with cloth boobs hanging around their necks. Then when we were in the L&D room, she made one of the dads get on the bed to demonstrate pushing positions!! Haha!

This is amazing. Can we make it happen?
Note to self- googling for pasty gifs while at work is probably not a good idea!
Sorry to all those suffering from a shitty night's sleep. I'm in the same boat. I wake up about once an hour to flip over because my hips are on fire/my acid reflux is acting up/I have to pee. It's miserable.
This is my last week of work before Maternity Leave and I'm really excited but it feels so surreal and now I'm in panic mode about everything I need to wrap up. I guess I shouldn't have "checked out" weeks ago - whoops!
I just pulled into my OB parking lot and they called to reschedule because of an emergency c-section. So now I'm going shopping because no point driving back home.
Also baby girl has only kicked 3 times in the last 3 almost 4 hours...
Is there anyway you can still get hooked up to a monitor or have a sono? I'm so sorry
DH built the shelves in the baby's closet this weekend, woot! Now I feel like we're getting close to being almost somewhat ready to maybe have a baby. He's not a "handy" guy so I'm very proud of him. Now if only I had the energy/will to actually put the baby's stuff in the closet, rather than keeping it strewn all over the house....

Ugh. Chloe lost weight. Again. It's amazing how many ways you can feel like an inept parent. Waiting for the pediatrician to come in and tell us what to do...
At the OB now. Nurse said they may send me over to the hospital??? Not sure why. I do, however, feel like this kid is going to fall out of my vag any second. Glad I called off today.
Yay! You go, LB! I don't want this LO to rush if he isn't ready, but I do want you to feel better!
Sooooo only because I can't share this with anyone else, but after being totally constipated this entire pregnancy I just had diarrhea. I also may have lost my mucous plug in the shower this morning. It went down the drain before I could get a pic, so I can't have you guys confirm.
All this likely means nothing and I'm pretty sure this baby is staying put until 42 weeks.
How to give a pregnant lady a heart attack: warn that the water company is going to be shutting off the water at some point in the next 3 hours to do maintenance. Ugh.
Of course two hours later we get an email saying the work is rescheduled.
@MrsG1019 thank you for explaining!!! I must be terrible with pain because my cervical check hurt! I was so tense though so that probably didn't help. I can't imagine how I'll deal with a sweep if it *actually* hurts...or worse....labour!! Eeeeek. Anyway, thank you!
@sweetbabyrahe thank you too! Crazy you've been getting them since 29 weeks...I didn't even really know they were a thing until this weekend.
@fhSTAR81, I hope everything goes well. That happened to me on the weekend and it turned out baby was sleeping. Let us know.
Also...just fell asleep for an hour and had a dream orgasm.
I spoke to my mom and she said "I had my first dream about you having the baby last night!"
Umm...I hadn't even told her that I had MY first labor dream last night. So strange.
Today is my Nana's birthday (my mom's mom). She's not alive but my mom has been saying how cool it would be for LO to be born on this day. Maybe that's why we both had a dream about him coming last night?
@AnnieRoo13 You never know! He could be on his way. Though I had it last Thursday and here I am, still giantly pregnant!
We shall see! I'm hoping he doesn't come yet because, like you, I also have a cold. Although SIL and I decided that adrenaline would take over during labour and the cold would magically go away. Think that's probably BS, but it's a nice thought.
@Dimples0101 your family and friends sound amazing! I love that they did that for you and I love the bracket idea.
@lilwatz I am so sorry you are having a tough time, you are doing a good job. Keep your head up! Hopefully the pedi will have some recommendations for you.
I decided to add up the Monday's I have left to work till my edd and after today I will only have one!! I have vacation time or a holiday (thanks Veterans Day) for all the others. I still have 1 more vacation day I'm not sure what I'm going to do with.. But I feel like I will barely be here in Nov due to killing vacation. Bring on November!
@lilwatz--hang in there!! Feeding can be a frustrating thing, but just know you're doing whatever you can to help out your sweet girl! You guys will get it all figured out. I remember that stressful feeling, though.
So I think I had my first "real" contractions last night?! I woke up in the middle of the night with a stomach ache and cramps...then I realized it was coming in "waves" I felt better within an hour, but holy crap, I wasn't expecting that. Still not sure if it was actual contractions or not. I started to panic, though, because MIL is out of town this week and we hadn't discussed a back up plan for what to do with the girls if we needed to go to the hospital this week! Plans are made now!
Ugh. Chloe lost weight. Again. It's amazing how many ways you can feel like an inept parent. Waiting for the pediatrician to come in and tell us what to do...
Hugs @Lilwatz! This is so tough, but please know that you are an amazing mother and the weight loss has nothing to do with you. DD lost weight as well, but her pedi had great advice and she was gaining soon after. Hoping for the same for you!
