Nicknames

We had a nickname thread before most of our LOs were born, so I'm just wondering whether people ended up using the nicknames they expected, and what other nicknames might have popped up over time.

I didn't have any planned nicknames, but I find myself calling my LO various versions of Miss, including Little Miss, Miss Miss, Miss Lady, and Miss Thing.

Re: Nicknames

  • I usually call LO "muffin" or "monkey" Obvi didn't plan on calling her these things but they kinda popped out one day and stuck.

Called LO Coconut during pregnancy and some people still use that. I started calling him pea pie and peada pie. I think I started with sweet pie (a mixture of sweet pea and sweetie pie) then it morphed.
Edit: also fuss bucket when he is fussy
  • Monkey and cutie mostly.

  • Initially DS was my fuzzy head b/c his hair was so fluffy...lately it's been poopy pants :) I also call him pumpkin a lot (not sure where that came from, assuming from my obsession with all things pumpkin right now) and sweetie.

  • Blueberry and squish held over from pregnancy. New are punkin, fussabunch (when he's fussy), bug, and Jack attack. Someone called him Jacky and I put a stop to that real quick. My mom calls him Jackpot mil calls him little sailor and I hate that one, we don't even have a boat
  • We use Joy as we planned most of the time, but when she's inconsolable it's Squeaks. She squeaks when she gets wound up.

I have a nephew named Jack and everyone calls him Jackaroo. I like that one.
  • DH nicknamed her Bloopy (rhymes with Snoopy) in the womb, and it stuck. We also call her bloops, the bloopsters, munch, baby girl, little miss...etc etc...I hope she learns her real name someday!
  • Killi - short for Killian, Little Bear, of course I cant think of them all right now, but there are many and they change by the day, I mostly stick to Killi though. His daddy like K-Dawg unfortunately.

  • It's nice that you all have these sweet nicknames. DS is either Henry or Mr. Grumps.

  • Well for mine what we call him most of the time is a nickname, Shep ( short for Shepard). But also little mister, squeaky toy(he makes a squeaking sound often), and fuss bucket.

  • Millie! Lmao. I swore we'd never start calling Amelia Amy, or Mia, or anything. But I started it. And Millie actually sounds more like Mealee (think how the Mel sound in Amelia).

She's also called little girl, baby stink, Nea (knee-ah... ds's name for Amelia), Millie Grace, and Baby Diddy (another DS nickname, he can't say sissy yet, it sounds like diddy).
We're Going to be a Family of 5!

    Lilypie - (PaHE) Lilypie - (4noI)

                                   Lilypie - (2q9u)

  • Sweet pea, little boo and pumpkinbutt are the names I use most frequently. We called her little boo before birth since DH and I call each other boo.

  • Our LO has gotten Cate and Caty (which we planned). The kids at the child care I work at call her Baby Cate, and due to articulation errors most call her Baby Cake and that has kind of stuck. My family has embraced calling her Caty Bug to match the animal theme they started with my cousin's LO Claire Bear. This has parlayed into her also being Bug and Buggy by me and DH. She also gets called Squeaks (she squeaks in her sleep), Peanut, Princess Fussy Pants, and at 3am when she is screaming she gets called Mommy's Little Demon Child (in the most loving way).
My in laws call her "The Pumpkin" which drives me crazy. Partly because of the "THE" prefix, and partly because they never call her by her name.
  • DD started calling him Duckie Duck so that's currently what we call him too. It's funny when that's how she introduces him to other people.
  • Hardly ever call DS by his real name either! It's Lil Bug or Mr Bear. I wonder if he's even going to respond to Max??
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Luna beam, Luna tuna (she's gonna be a fishy for Halloween), Luna bean and dormiluna (a play on the Spanish word fir sleepyhead-dormilona).
  • Aw these are all so fun and cute! DS is tiny tots, fuss ball (when he's fussy), and poopy. Mostly they are related to what action he is currently doing.
  • Good, I thought we were the only ones who had multiple nicknames for the baby.  When I was pregnant, we referred to it (team green) as Munchkin.  We still use that one, but we've added booger and stinker (he's been super gassy lately) and punkin.  Oh, and The Dude (though this one also sometimes refers to the cat, so now the cat's The Furry Dude).

  • I usually call her Sweets but I'm trying to change that because MIL calls her Sweets or Sweeter. DH calls her Critter among a lot of other things. My dad called me munchkin noodle, munch, or noodle...maybe I'll have to pass the Noodle torch to her. Her middle name is just 'B' so FIL will sometimes call her Miss B and my aunt says Nora B. Who knows what will stick when she's older.

  • His name gets shortened to Trav or Travi, and then there are lots of nonsense ones - lil squish, bug, lil t, lil man etc. One thing we haven't done is called him Ravi, which was an initial nickname idea because DH is half Indian.

  • I say 'Munch' and 'Bobble.'
