She's here! October 21st at 39 weeks 3 days My DH and I went to the Dr for our regular appointment. Dr told us that LO was measuring at 9lbs 7oz and she was concerned bc I hadn't begun to dilate at all. I've had no bloody show, no increased discharge, nothing that would indicate that this baby was coming anytime soon. She gave me three options. 1) I could wait it out and see if LO came on her own although by then I might need a c-section. 2) I could schedule an induction or 3) I could schedule a c-section. .. well what great options. Being nervous first time parents we opted for the induction. She said that it would be scheduled that week. We came home and 2 hours later at 4pm the nurse called and said to be at the hospital by 8pm..... well that escalated quickly. We got to the hospital at 8, they started a dose of cytotec at 9. At 12 the nurse was going to insert another dose of cytotec but my contractions were stronger and coming quicker than they wanted so they waited an hour before the next dose. At around 3 am they started the Pitocin and I started feeling the contractions get stronger. Thankfully I was able to sleep. By 7 am I was dilated at a 4 and going to the bathroom was beyond nerve racking. at 9:50 I went to the bathroom and heard my Dr come in. I had lost my mucus plug and was so excited, things were happening. That excitement lasted 5 min bc at 10am my Dr broke my water. THIS IS THE LABOR THEY TALK ABOUT!! I opted to get the epidural right away, which getting that injection during contractions is not the biz. By 11:30 my lower half was no longer under my control but I didn't mind, the pain was gone. By noon I was dilated to an 8. By 2 pm I was at a 10. We started pushing at 3 pm. LO was in the right spot. Doing all the right things but the size of her head said no. after an hour of pushing my Dr asked if I wanted to try the vacuum. All it took was one push and a slight scream and Riann Audrey was here. Weighing a whopping 9lbs 12oz she was 21.5 inches long and had a head full of hair. They had to make her cry. And at 4 days old she still doesn't cry much. She is a very laid back, easy going baby. DH and I are truly blessed.
