Nausea while BFing

Kellymom says it's normal due to hormones but I'm just curious if anyone else experiences waves of mild nausea during initial latch/ letdown? If I'm eating something when I start nursing I have to put it down because I feel so nauseated. Then it goes away. So weird!

Re: Nausea while BFing

  • Yeah, this is part of my normal.. while I was sick about a week ago it was a lot worse because I was already feeling queasy.  Either way I just take it as my body's friendly reminder that just because the baby is eating doesn't mean I have to snack the whole time too.

  • I get this too!! It sucks- it's like nauseous and anxious at the same time. At least it only lasts a few minutes usually.
  • DS isn't on the breast but I double pump and the first 2-3mins are miserable with how much it makes my stomach hurt. Weird.

  • I had it pretty badly the first week or so then it got better. My dr recommended snacking on almonds to keep my blood sugar up.

  • Well glad Im not the only one, anyway! Hormones are marvelous things, yes? Kellymom says it should go away between 6-8 weeks, so here's hoping!

  • I don't BF but even I get waves of nausea when I start leaking. It's so consistent I know that if I check I'll find spots on the pads.

  • Wow, this makes me feel better. I always get a little anxious/nauseated as I'm getting ready to pump. It always gets better a few minutes in.
  • Me to. At first I thought was dehydrated or something but it's very normal. And it sucks, especially in a very rare dead sleep
  • @slowmo‌ --apparently the anxiety is hormone related too! I can't link from mobile but there is also an article about that on kellymom if you'd like to google :)
