Anyone with hypothyroidism taking Fenugreek?

I'm planning on call my Endo. tomorrow but was just curious if anyone with hypothyroidism takes the Fenugreek supplement for lactation support. My dh went out and got the capsules and mothers milk tea and then I happen to read online that fenugreek may interfere with the absorption of my thyroid meds. I looked into it further and found conflicting information. Anyone talk to their Dr. About this? Just wanted to at least try the tea today :) Thanks!

    That is interesting. I have hypothyroidism and am having trouble with my supply. It never dawned on me that could be part of the issue. I was on 100 mcg before getting pregnant and through my pregnancy I was eventually put on 137mcg. My endocrinologist didn't want to see me until 3 mon the pp.

    @Irobi13 - My ob put me on my pre-pregnancy dose as soon as I delivered and I have my first foliow up with my endo at 6 weeks. I agree that you should definitely get an appt sooner than 3 months since pregnancy and pp can affect your levels after baby.

    OP, I am taking fenugreek and haven't heard anything about it hurting absorption but to be safe, I might start waiting until 4 hrs after taking the medication to take the fenugreek. My milk supply seems to be fine so far. I can't imagine that fenugreek would have an all day absorption effect so if you want to be safe, I'd say take it in the evenings. Of course, I also recommend talking to your dr if you think it'd help.

    I raised my eyebrows at the pp dosage when we discussed it. He said that I could come get retested if I felt jittery or shakey. I may go in in a few weeks just to be on the safe side.

    I have taken fenugreek but I don't take it until 4-5 hours from my synthoid.

    I take two. I was also eating lactaction cookies and drunken milk maid tea. None of it is working so my thyroid may be the problem. Lo is a month old and still not back to birth weight so I have to supplement with formula any way. Will probably switch to 100 % formula in a month when I go back to work because I only am able to pump 10-15 ml when I try (both hand pump and hospita double electric rental)
