Being a SAHM is a luxury for your Spouse

Y'all probably won't recognize me because I have been a fair-weather poster (forgive me) but the conversation around 'feeling blessed to be allowed to stay home' reminded me of an article I recently read that I think many of you will enjoy...

I thought it was good and my DH loved it too. He has also been a SAHD, and now is a WAHD.

Eta: What do y'all think?

  • Hearing it put this way definitely made me feel better about being at home. I couldn't accept it for a while.

How long have you been home?
Since the new year. I really didn't want to so it was hard at first, but I am grateful now because my relationship with my daughters is better. Back then I didn't even realize that it was lacking.
  • For our family, having me at home is a huge luxury in so many ways. My husband works irregular, some times late hours and my previous career had me traveling every day but Sundays and Mondays so, all these minimum school days, days home ill, early release days from school, etc. alone would be hard enough to cause a lot of stress on us.

  • Absolutely it's a luxury for my husband! His role is to put a roof over our head so being able to focus 100% on work and not having to worry about children and home is a huge benefit to
    him. Homemakers are so undervalued!

  • Yeah we talked about this on the board before @curlingrocks and @mandymack ran off all the interesting posters.
  • I hug my husband all the time!!!

  • Sure why not?

  • I don't understand the hugging from behind question?

  • I love how half the posts are from mods trying to keep this board alive. How's that going for ya @mandymack‌ and @CurlingRocks‌? It kinda sucks when you piss off 95% of the regular posters. Now, all your left with is lurkers who like to over share about their sex life to literally a bunch of strangers, aes, and trolls.

The intent of that post was to be fun and lighthearted, wasn't intended to be taken so seriously.

I swear on the life of my oldest cat that I'm not a mod troll. But I find in times of great strife gifs keep one from getting banned and let's on let of steam.

I found this for you ;)

    PREMADE?!

    image
Is this cultural? I was a SAH wife for our first year of marriage as I was finishing my last year of college and if not for my husband cooking we would have been living off of Raman and zaxby's. I come from the north (frozen chosen) so last I knew premade was acceptable.. In original containers.. Had this changed?! Do I need to learn how to cook?? IS THIS WHY MY MIL HATES ME?!?!! image
I knew there was a reason I was liking you. Dh does most of our cooking as well. I finished college and worked full-time for the first three yrs of our marriage. I hate cooking, cleaning and pretty much all the things I'm supposed to do as a SAH...except the kids. Love the kids. Not big on cleaning up after them, bathtime is a really B, but they are cute most of the time! ;)
  • ha! precisely explains my pre-pregnancy wine habit!
  • Mercy me! Your family needs some home cooked food.

Oh mah starz! Heavens to betsy! If you don't answer the door when your husband gets home with his favorite drink in hand and a home cooked dinner on the table you are just shirking your wifely duties and he just won't know you appreciate him! No telling what will happen then!
If I greet my husband at the door with a drink, it's for me not for him.
