hi everyone! I am reading mixed reviews about hair dye. What is everyone's opinion. I have highlights and would like to just dye my hair back to brown to make it easier. My husband doesn't think it is a good idea. I heard you are supposed to wait till after the first trimester. This is my first time being pregnant. Thanks ya'll!

I've heard wait until the first trimester as well. I need to get my hair touched up and I'm just going to deal with the semi trashy look until december.

I'm a hairstylist and work with hair color all day long. You are fine to color your hair, if you're not comfortable, doing something off the scalp like highlights or lowlights is a good option!

I wait until after the 1st trimester to do anything at all. Highlights are probably safer than full color / dye, as they never really get on your scalp so there should be very minimal absorption. Many people feel it's OK to use full hair color, it's really a question of your comfort level and how important it is to you to keep your hair colored

I personally used a lot of wide headbands in the 1st tri to hide my roots in past pregnancies. Then I did highlights.

I had mine done when I was around 17w. I had a lot of highlights and went back to my natural dark brown.

My doc said highlights were totally fine. I couldn't go an entire pregnancy without a touch up!

This is my first pregnancy and I called my doctor about this same issue, and I was told that highlights are fine. I'm 8 weeks today and just got my hair highlighted yesterday. I did tell my hairdresser that I am pregnant just in case there was anything different that she needed to do (i.e., not go as close the root). But you have to do what you feel comfortable with!

I just texted my hair dresser (also my BFF) yesterday to ask him if it was possible to do my usual color but in foils instead of all over. It was my fun way of spilling the beans. He was so excited AND said it would be doable

Yeah I have a doc appt tues and am going to ask the doc. I just want to go back to my normal brown color. Easier said than done! Lol

I just dyed my hair yesterday I have never heard that u couldn't I have tree kids n I have changed my hair about two time with each child

I think this no coloring your hair idea is nonsense. There are plenty of women who color their hair while pregnant and plenty of stylists who keep working while pregnant. Don't huff the chemicals and you will be fine.

I was told that going lighter was ok but going darker you need to proceed with caution.
