Lack of nutrition

Heya, I'm 8w5d and have had pretty rotten morning sickness for the last 3weeks. I have gone off of all meats and veges and can only eat crunchy/uncooked 2 minute noodles and drink lemonade without vomiting it up.. I'm taking my multivitamin daily but just wondering if I should be concerned about a lack of nutrients? Any suggestions on how to improve my diet without vomiting it all up 2 minutes later? Thanks

I'm sorry you're feeling so terrible!  The biggest thing is to make sure you're not getting dehydrated.  Water is heavier and harder to keep down that Sprite, white grape juice, etc.  Obviously juice would be better than soda, but you gotta do what you gotta do.  I think they only get super concerned when you start to lose major amounts of weight.  Talk to your OB/MW at your next appt and see if they think you need a prescription.

  • Thanks for your help :)
  • My motto in first tri has always been to eat what you can keep down. Your case sounds pretty severe though so I'm would check with your doc and look into a prescription as PP said

  • Try fiber one bars or granola bars first thing in the am. I have bad sickness daily and this seems to help me a ton along w a banana to start my day. Good luck
  • As long as you take your vitamins every day, you should not be worried. I completely understand that it's hard for you.

  • Granola bars, Popsicles (I've been eating frozen yogurt Popsicles or you could try the 100% fruit kind) cheese and crackers, fruit..I've been eating a lot of that with sparkling water. I worry about not getting enough protein too, the thought of meat is grossing me out!
  • I'm not far along to have dealt with morning sickness personally but I hear that ginger helps- trader joes has some ginger candy that I've read some women swear by.
  • Eat what you can at this point. Your vitamin is filling in your gaps at the moment. Worry about healthy eating when the m/s goes away.
