re- introing after taking some time away

Hi all, I wanted come back out of a few months of lurkerdom and say hello. I had to take a step back for a while as IF was taking over all my waking thoughts. A bit of history - DH and I started TTC in January 2012. After waiting a while for things to work out (he spent 2012 & 2013 on 2nd shift, which was rough on our timing -sorry if TMI), I finally bit the bullet & went to the RE on 6/2014. A diagnosis of PCOS (hormones are all in the normal range, AMH is a bit high, so my RE described it as a wastebasket diagnosis in that they had ruled out other potential causes). DH's SA looked good, but a history of colitis makes him a little suspect too according to my RE. I can't find any hard evidence online to support that, but it is her anecdotal experience. We have gone through 4 cycles of TI and Letrozole, and are moving on to Letrozole & IUI. Based on previous months, I am guessing d-day is 10/31. We will do three before looking at IVF. Insurance doesn't cover it, so all is out of pocket. DH and I have agreed to re-asses wether we feel comfortable going on to IVF - we won't do more than 1-2 tries if we do. In my heart, I guess I have lost hope that any of this will work and am riding out these last 6 months with great hope, but low expectations. One of the things I love about this board, though, is the strength of you ladies to meet each challenge, disappointment, and joy with optimism, humor, and compassion for how hard this journey is on ourselves and others. I'm hoping to come back & join the cheering squad.

Welcome back, Juneroses!! I'm sorry the TI didn't work, but hopefully IUI will do the trick.

The quoted here is exactly our plan, and also the same feeling I've been having, it's beautiful the way you put that into words - great hope, but low expectations. Hope you're not back here much longer.

Welcome back and sorry you find yourself here. My DH and I, I'm sure like most people, also have a fertility 'plan'. We are also paying out of pocket, so we have decided on 3 IUI's (may try one or two medicated TI due to no concerns with MFI). But then we are moving to adoption right away. We feel our end goal is to expand our family, and that family’s are made up in a variety of ways. It is such a challenging process, and is important, I believe, to have a realistic mind set. Cautiously optimistic.

Thanks, ladies, for the welcome back! It is nice to hear that we are in this journey together, although I have my fingers crossed we all 'graduate' soon!
