Is This For Real? (rant)

This week, I went and had my hair colored and cut for the first time since June. I was really starting to look homely and I finally found the time, so I decided to splurge and go to a really nice salon that a lot of my single "hot" girlfriends go to..ya know the girls with the super fabulous trendy cuts and color. I paid $225 for my cut and color, which almost gave me a stroke, but I NEVER do that kind of thing anymore and I was feeling like I deserved it.

So the wonderful man who colored my hair did a beautiful job...made sure it was low maintenance so that I didn't have to come back in for a while for a touch-up or anything. THEN the woman who cut my hair literally made me look like Carol F'ing Brady. I asked her to clean up my ends...that I did NOT want layers. What did I get? Layers and not just any layers, super choppy, blunt layers and about three inches off of my original length. I was PISSSSSSED. So I mulled it over, slept on it, decided to ask for my money back and left a review on their facebook page. My review was very blunt, to the point and honest about the service I received from this little gem of a "stylist"....more like a hair butcher.

So what happened next? She took my phone number out of the computer system and took it upon herself to leave me a nasty voicemail and numerous text messages about the review I left. Who the fuck does that? I just called the salon and spoke to an owner about the incident, she apologized a million times, said the stylist would be "taken care of" and that I would receive a refund in full rather than just a refund for the cut.

I just had to get this off of my chest because it is SO ridiculous.

Wow. Just wow. That is beyond my scope of understanding. How in the world did the person think it was in any way acceptable to personally contact you like that?! Sorry and hopefully you can get the cut fixed up so it's more to you liking.

It would have been one thing for her to have called me from the phone at the front desk to apologize for the service I received and to ask if there was anything she could have done to rectify the situation. Instead this crazy ass lunatic has my phone number saved in her personal cell phone. So unprofessional and thank god for the ability to block a number. And I would have marched my ass in there and let loose but I'm so embarrassed by this cut, I'm not leaving my house without a bag on my head until Thanksgiving.

Oh god. That's awful. I'm sorry your experience was shit. I have to say, finding a salon you like and a stylist you like is really important. I hope you have better luck in the future with that.

Holy shit. I would've murdered someone. At least the owner is on your side. Seriously how difficult is it to understand NO layers? Etc... I know people screw up but damn. Hope pregnancy is making your hair grow quick!!!

Wow...at least you got a refund. But bad haircuts suck! Hopefully you can figure out a good way to style it so it doesn't look so Carol Brady-ish!

I would have freaked if this happened. I would leave a follow-up to my original review so future people know what type of crazy they are dealing with. And I would want to know what type of 'action' was taken against the shitty psycho stylist.

I would've done the exact same thing. It's so terrible when you splurge on a service like that and come away unhappy. That stylist needs to be fired. Behavior like that could potentially ruin a salon. I'm so glad you took a stand and got your money back. Sorry for your new cut. Hopefully the prenatals will help it grow back much faster.

Sorry about your experience, & the layered cut you didn't want. Since you like the color, maybe keep you hair tied up until prenatals work their magic?

That's crazy, I can't even fathom a stylist doing that and I've known some pretty crazy ones. I hope she got into some major trouble. I hope your cut grows out to your liking!

Yikes. As a stylist there is really no excuse for cutting layers when asked not to, layers aren't really something you can do unintentionally. Sorry you were treated that way! She should work on her costumer service if she wants to make it in that industry.

This is the review that I left. Harsh? Sure, I suppose it is, but I didn't talk about her inappropriate conversation with another stylist while she maimed my hair. I've got dirty hair up in a ponytail today. I'll snap a pic before church tomorrow.

That review is not bad at all! I've seen some awful reviews on Facebook that just make me uncomfortable to read. It's not like you insulted her or anything! She sounds psycho. I have anxiety every time I get my hair cut. My hair is super long, and I haven't had it done in over a year because of how bad the last stylist botched it. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this!

I don't think it's that bad of a review. I think before writing a review I would have gone back in and let them know I didn't like it (or told her before I left) and given them a chance to fix the situation.

Lol that's barely even a bad review. It makes me furious when stylists think they know better. When I say I want ash brown, it means ash brown. When I specifically tell you I like ash brown because I hate gold or warm tones of any kind, I mean it. I've had colorist a do warm browns because they think they know better. Or those who cut 4-5" off during a "trim".

Sounds like she did her own thing. She needs to find a new profession. It doesn't matter what she think looks best. You're the one who sees it every day in the mirror.

Been there done that. Ulta DESTROYED my hair 2 years ago. It was so bad the woman got fired before I even could call to complain. I cried for days. I asked for a Selena Gomez cut and it ended up looking like a broom on crack

Oh God. You Poor thing. I am so sorry for you. I have very curly too and it really is hard to find stylists that know what to do with it. I hope someone can help you. In the meantime, maybe just wear a lot of polyester and plaid? People will just think it's for Halloween or a theme party. ;-)

An update on the refund:

So Rikki works independently in that salon and pays rent for her station, which I assumed when I paid her for my cut with her foursquare app and then paid for my color at the front desk. I got a call bright and early this morning that my transaction had gone through on her foursquare but that she would send me a check for the refund and I just needed to give them my address so that SHE could send me the check. I said "Uh no. I'm not giving her the address to my home after the text messaging incident". So now she will leave a check at the front desk and I have to drive my ass downtown to pick it up on a day that she's not working. Not really ideal but neither is having this stark raving mad lunatic show up at my house with a check and a butcher knife.
