Older siblings

I have a 6 week old baby and my 4 year old daughter. (Almost 5) is driving me crazy she does not listen at all and talks back all the time. What do I do? Punishments aren't working

  • Thanks for posting this. My kids are about the same ages as yours, and my son has the same problem. It will be interesting to see what the other mommies have to say. :-]
  • I have a 5 yo, 3 yo and 18 month old with my 7 week old. It's been . . . interesting. We've done a lot of time outs in his room for the 5 year old.

  • Our 5 year old has been a little tough lately but that's I think due to starting kinder. It's my formerly sweet 3 year old...he's become a challenging, sneaky, pesky little thing. There have been nights where I have to sequester each kid in a different room just to get bedtime routine done. More frequent time outs, and downright silliness when I don't want to yell.

They've been "showing off" like we have a guest for weeks...guys the baby isn't a guest you can relax now!

  • I just bought Positive Discipline, I like what I've heard from friends who've read it!

  • My almost 5 year old is being pretty bad too.  Similar issues - not listening, being mean, etc.  We do time outs and have been taking things away that we know he loves (ex - nighttime books with daddy, etc).  Honestly, this only works some of the time.

  • I could've written this myself. My 4ur old boy has been insane! He's hyperactive and selectively deaf and just pushing every button. He's good with his brother but completely obstinant with us. It's like he's getting too much attention, he's acting like a spoiled brat.
