Re: What's shakin this weekend?
However, tonight I invited my family and a few of our new friends,w babies to carve pumpkins! Should be fun, though I'm not sure whose, all coming. We are going to do ours ahead of time so there's lots of space. I think I'll make chili for it too. Easy!
Otherwise, we host our PEPS group on Wednesday (7 couples plus their newborns and the facilitator, one couple is out of town) and I have,to fix dinner for everyone! I'm planning on cheating: J serves BBQ pork and brisket at her shops. I think I'm going to be a mess of meat and those little Hawaiian buns to make generously sized sliders...but I need to plan that plus get some things done around here! Some piles have accumulated that I swear I don't even see anymore!!
I'm also working on a packing checklist for our trip to Boston & PA...thankfully it turns out they sell stuff there...so if we forget stuff the world won't end. I may Amazon myself things to our hotel too.
One fun thing is in the books for Saturday. My friend is obsessed with honey and he's having a honey tasting fundraiser for some bee farmers who lost everything in this summers' wildfires. There will be 165 honey's to taste, though my head feels like it'll pop off from the sugar after about 10. Still it is fascinating the range of flavors!!
So basically I am tasking on the home front, catching up on my DVR, and prepping for big stuff coming in the next two weeks!
QOTW: Our family always did stockings on St. Nick's day, Dec. 6. It was an awesome 'teaser' before Christmas. I totally plan to do them for S but J also want to have Santa do them again on Christmas...which is fine by me!! My one sister told me the other day how she'd always wished they'd magically refill on Christmas! My other sister is knitting S her stocking which is awesome.
Me (43) and J (45) - same sex couple. And we don't feel 40+!

Tomorrow we are taking Will to the Philadelphia Zoo! I am super excited! My MIL is going with us. Will is going to meet a giraffe named Gus - there will be pictures!
Sunday will be grocery store, errands and cleaning. Maybe an outdoor lunch and Will taking a long afternoon nap on me in the glider.
We still haven't painted the pumpkins we got at the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago... so I would love to find time to do that too, but I won't push it...
QOTW: I think I am going to be a total Christmas fanatic this year! I found a Things to Do in Philly at Christmas website yesterday, and now I am obsessed with doing ALL the things! This website tells me that there are 62 days until Christmas. Holy cow! I may have been so excited when I discovered this that I emailed our family and planned a big Christmas day in the city on December 13th. We are going to the Macy's in the city and walk through the Dickens Village on the 3rd floor, then check out the Christmas Village across from City Hall. And I am kind of obsessed with planning Will's first visit to see Santa. Yep, I might be out of control.

That means after work today I have to go home and clean up the house. I can't stand leaving for the weekend knowing the house is a mess. I don't plan on deep cleaning but I have laundry, dishes, and some vacuuming to do! Then hopefully J will get home at a reasonable time so we can hit the road at a decent hour!
I'm looking forward to all the holidays! I just like long weekends and spending time with my family.... Doesn't matter which holiday it is!
S starts her shots on Sat so depending on how that turns out, we may or may not be doing much at all. I am thinking a relaxing weekend in is just what we both need after the week that we just had.
Nov-Dec is my fav time of year. The holidays just make me feel light and if possible, a little nicer. Black Friday always pulls me in and I love it. We are trying to decide if we want to run away for Thanksgiving...I think we are waiting to see how the transfer goes before we nail something down. S's ER is scheduled for 11/5.
7/22/15 - It's a boy!
QOTW: We don't travel for Thanksgiving and none of our family lives here, so we typically spend Thabkagiving as a small family. Before Ash we would spend the day at a friend's, but it was mostly for adults without kids, so lots of drinking. Just not the vibe I want Ash to associate with holidays. I look forward to cooking us a little vegan feast even though it's a lot of work. My mom and stepdad might be here, which would be great. I'm most looking forward to Christmas and starting to establish our own family traditions.
We are also hoping to do a little baby shopping and look at strollers and car seats.
Halloween: 1st baby shower back in wv that sat.
Thanksgiving: last trip home before babies are born!!! Complete with Black Friday shopping with the BFF!
Christmas: Sarah's family will be at our house. We've never had Christmas at our house so this is a first. Feeling VERY sad about not being with my mom.
ETA: @crazyaunt84 FX and GL all goes as planned at your appointment.
