Newborn photo session

I found a photographer I love but she requires you to come to her house for the session which would take place 7-14 days after baby's born. This is making me uneasy because it's the winter and baby's so young. Am I overreacting ( ftm here) She is approx 45 min from my house and I would love to use her but don't want to put my baby at risk for catching a cold.

    Then find another photographer if you don't feel comfortable doing that.

    Or ask if she'll come to your house.

    Fwiw, allot of these nb shoots are done at the home of the photographer. They usually have a mini studio set up in their home.

    That sounds normal. How long did you plan on being a hermit? Use blankets once the seat belt is secure to keep them warm in the car. If you have a heater in the car, I don't think the length of the trip is an issue other than the baby getting a nap in right before you want them to sleep for their pictures. Their studio should be warmer than a normal indoor temp (it helps get better sleeping baby pictures).

    Within the first two weeks is the best time to get the adorable sleeping newborn shots. I waited until my son was 2 weeks old and he didn't want to cooperate. He was too alert by then. If he fell asleep and I tried to reposition him, he'd wake up.

    Mine is coming to my house.  We are doing a mixed of posed and lifestyle photos, so it makes the most sense for those to be in our home.  I know a ton of newborn photographers and most of them go to the clients home.  Could you hunt around a bit for someone else?  If you are in love with her photos though, I would say its worth making the trip out.

    I'm driving to my photographer. I did last time as well. Just make sure the car is warm, baby should be fine driving at that age, just make sure to feed them before you go.

    You don't get sick just from being out and about in cold weather. You get sick from being inside where germs are incubating in the heat. Were you planning on never taking the baby out until summer?
