MOH: making it through the wedding

Good evening ladies! Just wondering if you have any tips for making it through a day and night of a wedding while pregnant. I am the Maid of Honour in a wedding in Nov and I will be about 29 weeks. I've already purchased a maternity shaper to help take some of the pressure off my back and stomach, and plan to bring flats to change into. Hopefully I will have time to put my feet up at some point. Anything else I should do/plan for so I can make it through the day and night at least semi-comfortably? Thanks!

  • I'd try to work your water intake around the ceremony so you don't pee yourself next to the alter. Also have someone keep snacks on hand for you or do it yourself so you can eat if you feel sick or faint.

  • I was MOH in a wedding at about the same time. I wore heels to avoid paying for alterations in length, and that was my biggest regret. My feet were killing me after the ceremony. Luckily I had a flat pair for the reception.

Drink plenty of water, and I had a chair near the dance floor. I didn't dance much at the reception!

Very true! I don't think the ceremony will be very long, so that works in my favour.

It will be a delicate balance between hydrating but not so much I have to pee every 10 min ha :)

  • I was in a wedding at about 24 weeks. One of the other girls was like 35 (3 weeks before due date. I can't maths). We had the venue set up "just in case chairs" behind us for the ceromony. I was fine but she needed it about halfway through. Highly recommend
  • Definitely have snacks and a water bottle handy. Maybe have it stashed under your spot at the reception table.

  • Snacks are a great idea. I know the bride will have a breakfast for us for when we get ready in the morning, but I'll bring snacks in my purse as I don't know when the next time we will eat will be.

I recently told my husband to remind me to say no the next time someone asks for me to be in a wedding when I'm pregnant. I love being in weddings and standing up for ppl, but this has been so exhausting on top of all the baby stuff. Don't get me started on the stagette that I planned but couldn't drink at :)
  • I did a wedding where my clients MOH was about 32 weeks and she brought a mini cooler with all of her snacks and she even made like finger sandwiches to munch on while they were getting ready. Just stay hydrated and in the morning there will be plenty of time for you to sit down. I feel like most weddings are fairly laid back in the morning/early afternoon. (Until you are about to walk down the isle really.) Just take it easy and don't be afraid to let any of the girls know if you need a break during the day. :)

  • I was MOH last weekend, at 24 weeks, and I wore flats the whole day. I contemplated heels for pictures and ceremony but I'm so glad I didn't. Amen to the snacks! Thank God my BFF brought food for me or I would have passed out. (I'm a fool and forget I'm pregnant.) The ceremony was short but I love @flyster‌ suggestion of "just in case" chair, you never know.
