Preeclampsia??!

I've been posting the past few days about cramping and dizziness. Yesterday I was at the dentist just for a cleaning and I made we stop cleaning my teeth because I felt so dizzy just laying down. I went to to bathroom and ran into other ladies as I was trying to make it there because I had tunnel vision. Everything got white around me. I got to the bathroom and laid down in the floor for 10 minutes. Called my doctor she said to just lay down at home. And drink water. Well I did and I fell asleep. When I woke up I still felt that way again. Called the doctor again and they gave me the preterm labor signs and said to just rest. Today I'm still feeling the same way. Cramping in my ribs, dizzy, swelling feet. All signs of preeclampsia. I check my blood pressure with a blood pressure kit and that was normal. So idk. I feel like my doctor is ignoring the problem when this could be major. What could this be???

Re: Preeclampsia??!

  • There are many doctors there. I'm not sure which one is ignoring my questions. I've been talking to the nurses. Who give me answers saying "the doctor said to..."
  • What was your blood sugar?  Those are all sign I have when mine is low.  Regardless, you are the only one that knows your body, if it were me I would be pestering my Dr to be seen.
  • Not sure about my blood sugar. I've called them just now. And they said the doctor would call me. It's been over an hour.
  • Can you just go into L&D? That's an option at my hospital- they prefer that we call first, but they say you are always welcome to come in with concerns. It sounds like you feel really unwell and need someone to take a look at you.
  • I agree with PPs to keep pushing until you're seen. Could you possibly go up there and ask if they'll see you as a walk in? Not all offices handle this the same, but if it was me I might try this before going to L&D. It's harder to turn you away if you're unwell and sitting in their waiting room. Maybe at least you could see a nurse and speak to them about your symptoms in person and get some vitals/urine/bloodwork.

  • If you blood pressure is typically normal that is a good sign that it is not pre-e, maybe blood suger? Did you eat before your appt? Either way you should get an appt to be checked.
  • If you were laying on your back, your baby could have been compressing a major vein and causing the dizziness. This is one of the reasons that you aren't "supposed to" lie on your back in late 2nd/3rd tri, although it doesn't happen to everyone. Glad that your baby is fine and that you got checked out!

Dizziness may also occur later in your pregnancy if you lie on your back, allowing the weight of the baby to press on your vena cava (a large vein that carries blood from your lower body to your heart).

  • So happy to hear baby is ok. I hope you get more answers on why you are experiencing what you have been.
