Stretch Marks

What are y'all doing for your stretch marks, if you have any?  I have two pretty significant stretch marks near my belly button from this pregnancy.  I've been alternating between Mederma and cocoa butter once or twice a day, but they do not seem to be diminishing at all. I didn't get any last time (baby much smaller), and was wondering if they will go away with any specific treatment, or if I should just live with them and not bother?

They will absolutely fade over time but they will always be there. It will take more than a year to see the fade kick in. This baby destroyed my belly and even the top of thighs. Oh well!
  • At least it's only two, I have way more than that. And my legs swelled so bad I have them up and down both legs. I'm FTM but from what I hear like PP have said they are there to stay. They will fade though. It's just a "badge of motherhood" as people say....

  • Just be glad it's only two.. I have a ton of them. They aren't going away. I'm not super worried about them. Just like @doglover31 said it's the badge of motherhood.
  • When I went through puberty, I got pretty bad stretch marks on my hips and breasts. I used strivectin on them...the ones on my breasts aren't visible any more, and it significantly lightened the ones on my hips. It's expensive, but worth it in my opinion. I did see a comment on Ulta's website though that someone had used it 20 years ago with different results, so maybe they changed their formula?

  • Like PPs said, they're there to stay, but my OB said drinking lots of water and moisturizing should help them to fade more significantly.
  • Good to know - thanks! That is sort of what I was suspecting.  I wonder if I could have prevented them by lotioning up better during pregnancy - I was not very good about that.  Oh well!  No big deal.

  • Ha mauled by a tiger!! I'm with you on that one!
  • Apparently, according to my dh, I have bear scratches lol he said it looks like when a bear scratches its belly. Smh
  • I thought I got away with no stretch makes until one night my husband said "what's on your but?" I looked in the mirror and was horrified at the site of crazy stretch marks. I guess I'm lucky in a sense that they won't be seen when wearing a bathing suit!
  • I only got stretch marks with my first baby.  11 years later, they are still there but definitely faded to the point where even in a bikini, you can only see them super close up.  Time will fade them. If you want to use something, try a fading cream but the indentations will never go away unless you got laser therapy or some other procedure.

Adding to @conradraging‌'so disbelief at two, I'd like to say...

    Bikini?!?!

  • I've been using a night cream called Nerium for about a month to help decrease the redness and the overall size of them. I'm starting to see a difference in the last week or so.
  • Thank you @conradrag!! I was reading and thinking "wow," until I got to your comment.

I think you're stuck with em OP and ladies stretch marks come with the territory. Kinda drives me bonkers when someone chooses to have a kid and then freaks about stretch marks. I wouldnt even try to count mine and I don't need to... I earned my darn stripes!

ALL of this. I have so much saggy skin and so many stretch marks...it's a war zone. But I'm counting my blessings.
