Formula Feeding

How many oz of formula at 9 weeks?

My DS was switched from EBFing to formula 2 weeks ago.  He is MUCH happier, but the pediatrician said to keep him to 25oz/24 hours.  He is not satisfied with this so the last couple of days I have been giving him closer to 30oz, but he is giving the signs that he wants more.  I am going to feed him on demand (momma knows best...right?), but I'm just curious how many oz your LO's were eating at 9 weeks and how often?
FYI he is 10lbs.

Re: How many oz of formula at 9 weeks?

  • My LO ALWAYS ate above average and is chunky but healthy. At 9 weeks he was still mostly breasfeeding but would take probably close to 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hours. If he's hungry, feed him, I say NOT to listen to doc on this one. He will stop eating when he's full. If we capped our son we would have dealt with screaming beyond belief.

  • Starting at about 9 weeks, DS has been taking about 5.5-6 oz per feeding five times per day and usually ends up at a total of 27-28 ounces. Prior to that, he was crying more, and I think it's because he wasn't getting enough at each feeding.
