Getting to know your baby

I'm a ftm, so sorry if this is a dumb question!
I started feeling regular predictable movements around 22 weeks, and I learned that my baby likes to sleep during the day while I'm most active. And she really gets physical about an hour after I've relaxed in the evening, usually after I've eaten.
I started ding my kick counts at 27 weeks, I always do them in the evening..
As of this week she has suddenly decided she's a morning girl. I've really only been feeling her in the evening if she's beating the shit out of my spine and ribs, but in the morning she's obviously practicing gymnastics all morning.
Has anyone else noticed a change in babies habits(and I really don't mean a decrease in movements)?

  • Mine has become more active overall. 4 pm used to be his "happy hour". Now I can feel him throughout the day. I don't really feel him at night unless I need to use the bathroom, he must run out of room. Tuesday, he tried to push my hip bone out of his way. Sorry, Bubba, it's not moving!

  • My son is active alllllll day long! But like clock work, every night around 830PM when I plop my butt on my couch to finally wind down, he decides to really go to town on me. Me and DH watch my stomach move and warp and giggle all over. Its funny. And he's nonstop til about 11-1130. Then wakes me up every morning around 430 with more kicks. My mom is convinced my water will break around 430 AM!
  • She's psycho once I get off work, 8:30ish. Or just whenever I'm sitting on my ass, she's hella determined to move my left hip. The little butt makes sure to give me random hard kicks all the time at work.

  • Mine used to have smaller patterns in the beginning but now I feel the baby becoming more active most of the day. And I definitely seem to wake up the baby when I go to the bathroom at night.
  • My baby girl thinks its fun to headbutt or kick my cervix daily or she likes to push out on my belly button :) i love feeling her move!
  • What Banker said. Seriously though, this baby is constantly on the move. I feel more rolls lately than big kicks.
  • Little man is most active right when I lay down and when I wake up in the morning. It's pretty crazy but it feels like he has the same sleep schedule as I do. It's like when I sleep, so does he. Maybe it will continue when he actually gets here (I can wish, right?!)

  • @momtoE25 - I was thinking the same thing until my husband told me the baby kicking him at night. Apparently I'm still sleeping like a rock, but she wakes my husband up on a nightly basis. Guess he holds me too tight. I'm still telling myself that she sleeps at night only because it makes me feel better and she's so active during the day, when the hell does she sleep?

  • I feel LO periodically throughout the day..but his crazy time is from 1:30 to about 3 in the morning. I hope his schedule resets a little once he is here.

Not going to lie- the rolls kinda freak me out. It just feels so weird.

  • I would be more concerned if my baby wasn't moving...versus changing time of day.

  • My little dude is an early bird--he's practicing his ninja moves between 4am-9am every single day and the remainder of the day it's when I'm not stressed out or too focused on work that he moves around a lot. I got off work early today and he's been pretty active most of the afternoon :)
  • My boy switched from a morning to night to afternoon baby. I feel him all day but different times of day his kicks are a lot stronger.
  • @alexandrac86‌ I'm sure I could be sleeping too hard to notice and DH definitely wouldn't notice with the way he sleeps but I usually am a pretty light sleeper so I think I would notice a little. Maybe he just kicks softer bc he knows I'm sleeping lol.

  • My baby just moves all the time it seems. She's a little quieter in the morning but after breakfast it's go time. She likes to push her feet again my right side so that her back pushes out against the left and she does that constantly all day /:)
  • She's still very active, but I feel more rolls and pushing/nudging than big kicks. Sometimes I get kicked or nudged in the ribs.

  • I'm not sure if it's just because LO has flipped and gotten into her comfortable position, but within the past several weeks I've noticed that I always feel her knees/feet rolling in the same place on my right side. By this point I keep thinking my skin is just going to burst open and her little leg is going to pop out of my side from her wearing it down.

I've also noticed that whereas before her movements would be pretty sporadic and unpredictable throughout the day, she's definitely got her own sleep schedule established- starts her day about an hour after I get home from work and start to wind down, and is dead asleep by the time I wake up every morning.

This. It is all day every day. But her favorite time to party like a rock star is 1-3am. Lucky me :)

  • My little boy loves to push himself against my stomach while I am at work creating uncomfortable pressure in certain areas, but he normally starts to kick and roll around when I get home and get settled in for the night..... They know what we're doing and they like to big us while were trying to relax.... Lol.

Parenthood... It's true love... The only time someone could pester you that much and you love every second of it!!

  • My baby is trying to fist punch his way out through my vagina.
Exactly how I feel! I feel like this is happening more and more to me each day. Brings me to my knees sometimes. If he isn't doing that to me, he is dancing away with his feet into my stomach.

  • Mine will move and kick most when I wake up in the morning and when I go to bed at night. I might not notice him during work because I'm so busy and active for the whole shift.

Anything cold I eat (esp ice cream) he freaks out.

His feet have found my right side ribs and it hurts sometimes.

About 75% of the movement I feel is him rolling. And I agree with PP's that rolling is VERY weird. It's like he's flexing part of my stomach in and my sides out...if that makes sense.

Definitely this. I feel like an alien's in there and may try to escape at any time...

  • My baby is moving while I am sleeping and apparently I don't realize it. DH let me spoon him last night and woke me up saying "the baby has been kicking me the past three hours in the back, no wonder you don't get great sleep" lol. Seems like he's very active most of the time these days.
  • Consider it prep for parenthood. The second you think you figure them out they change entirely. Everything is a phase.

My little womb squatter moves after I drink my water in the morning, on every car ride, after I eat..... various times at work. When I get home she's sleeping I guess? Then gymnastic practice is at 8pm. Until I go to sleep. She's gonna be an interesting baby.

    THIS.  Absolutely.  ;)

I'm getting fewer kicks and more pushes and rolls these days too.  Poor kid is running out of room in there, I guess.  He pushes out SO HARD sometimes that it feels like my skin is going to rip open.  Unpleasant!  I read during my first pregnancy that they tend to be more active when you are resting/relaxing because when you are walking around a lot, you're rocking them to sleep.  I thought that was kind of sweet.  ;)

Our little guy loves to kick the dogs.  They like to lay their heads on my belly and seconds after they do that, he kicks or pushes really hard.  They look at me like "wtf?"  It's hilarious.
