I had seizures growing up but after age 14 I was fine thanks to meds. I did have one with my last daughter when they were taking all the blood on an empty stomach. I do pass out quite frequently when I am dehydrated or even with sharp pains of some sort. But so far with all my labors I was fine. Even my last one where I never got an epidural. And that was a lot of pain.
Proud Mom to Kaleigh (14yr) Emma (12yr) and Hanna (7yr)
I have a seizure disorder brought on by multiple sclerosis. I've had fewer seizures since conceiving, which is awesome. Not sure how labor will be. I hope it's seizure free.

I'm taking seizure medicine right now. The doctor switched me to Keppra because it's the safest. I haven't had a seizure since 2006 but they want to keep me on it. Best of luck to you!
I'm on generic lamictal xr. It's got really good ratings but not sure what the neurologist is going to do. I've read some people have adjusted due to weight, some with blood tests and others got lucky and didn't need to adjust. (I posted a minutes ago asking what others are going through or have. For some reason this post didn't show. So apologies for a repeat.) :-/
I have epilepsy due to a brain injury, and took Topomax 50 mg/day through both of my pregnancies. In both cases, I doubled up on my dose for delivery, due to the low dose I take, and all that is involved with delivering. C-section with my first, VBAC with my second. No seizure related issues at all.
Hi, I have epilepsy - I take Topamax and Lamictal and am curious about your experiences as well. I'm concerned because they won't see me until 7 weeks - I know that's normal for a low risk pregnancy but I'm nervous because of my seizure disorder. I've been very dizzy and am afraid I've developed anemia or maybe even not getting enough folic acid although I take a prenatal plus 4mg extra. Even though I have been working with my neurologist there is a lot they defer to the Ob/gyn, and when I call the OB/GYN, they tell me they cannot give me advice because they have not yet treated me. For those that have had children, when was your first OB appt? Lorist202 - can I ask what the reason was for your first c-section?

I saw my Ob at like week 8. Make sure your OB is high risk. Also make sure if you're not comfy with things you can look for another dr. I also take double the prenatals. So if the dose says take 1 I take 2. I had to go on gummies so I was taking 4. There's no harm in taking more you'll just pee what you don't need.
I saw my neuro today. I haven't had any issues but he wants to up my dose from 300 to 400 of lamotrogine. Switching from xr to non. I've always felt the best on xr so not totally looking forward to that. We shall see.
